This was primarily due to Pee Wee, Paul Rubens, getting arrested for masturbating in an adult movie theater. Though he was only fined $50 and had to do a couple hours of community service work, his career would be forever tarnished.
Lately, Nike has been pretty creative with their sneakers. First we saw the “Thing” Dunks, then the “Mork and Mindy” Dunks SB, and now we have the Pee Wee Herman Dunks SB. The colorway resembles Pee Wee’s famous grey suit with a red bow tie. The insole shows Pee Wee sitting all alone in a movie theater. Be sure to take a peek at all the pics. Pee Wee’s will release in early 2007. |

I don’t think Nike will released those, it is over the top. I would buy them for collecters though, but Nike would get hit with so much backlash just based off the cushioning in the inside.

I was thinking it was pretty edgy for them to do something like that. I am sure that these Dunks will not say “Pee Wee Herman” on the box but are going to be like the Heineken’s and have every resemblance to the company, but not technically be made to be “Heineken shoes.”
What bothers me about the insole is not just “Pee Wee” being in the movie theatre, but rather that it his arm on the aisle side is not resting on the armrest. If you then follow the direction of where his forearm is going, well, you know the rest.
I doubt that Paul Rubens has any idea about these shoes, but I’m sure he won’t be too happy when he finds out.
