Puma Clyde Vaughn Bode “Cheech Wizard”
Posted by Matt Halfhill | Mar 27, 2007| Vaughn Bodé tragically lived a short life, but his artwork will be forever remembered. Bodé was very much ahead of his time in terms of artistic style. In fact, his most famous character, Cheech Wizard, wasn’t published for nearly 10 years since he first created that character in 1957, a few years before the psychedelic decade.
You can still find Bodé’s Cheech Wizard on many walls across the world today. Much of his work is depicted in graffiti art. Puma is paying homage to Bodé by celebrating the 50th birthday of the Cheech Wizard. The shoe takes inspiration from Bodé’s use of vibrant colors and stars. For this project, Puma used one of their most iconic shoes, the Clyde. The shoe is made with a yellow nubuck upper with gloss printed stars and a full grain pigskin lining. The Bodé Clydes are extremely limited. Only 6 stores in the US will receive the shoes including Bodega of Boston, MA. |
