Premium Goods x Fila Tennis Classic

Fila hooked up with Premium Goods to produce a version of the Fila Tennis Classic that has much more to it than just a simple three colored sneaker. We caught up with Clarence of Premium Goods to ask what was his inspiration for the shoes.  Pics from Complex.

The Fila Tennis Classic was one of the first shoes at the $200 in the 1980’s. The other shoe was Gucci, the style that inspired Jay Z for his first S.Carter. For the colors I wanted to pay homage to both high priced shoes including Gucci, the Italian colors, and black pride.

The upper has a sort of ballistic style mesh which is to represent a bullet proof vest. Back in the day the drug dealers in Brooklyn went nuts for these kicks and the Guccis at $200.

Something you can’t see from this shot is that they come with three laces (black, green, and red) and all have gold tips as well as an all over repeating print of Brooklyn and Houston on each of the insoles.

Wow, nostalgia at it’s best…these bring back some good memories…I miss the ’80’s!

  3. Nice Kicks

Fila needed this in a big way. This is why companies need to team up with artists and shops who know their history better than half of their own sales people.

    Great work Clarence!

i understand that fila USED to pop for $200 but im still mad at whoever decided to make the prada knock offs! i paid 380 for my high-top pradas and i have people insulting me saying im tryna be like huricane kris with his filas! >:O

^^^ Dag that is messed up!!! I’d be pissed if I were you! The first thing I thought when I saw those bootleg (prada) ripoffs is “I wonder if lames are gonna cop those or just continue to wear bootleg prada?”

Fila… I just don’t know… after that Prada copy thing (which, by th way, is doing very well in NYC) is just sad.

I never knew that Fila has a 200 dollar sneaker though.

listen im 29 yrs old and i remember wen all da hustlers used 2 rock fila wit pride back in da day…but it in recent years they been slackin wit swagger…da prada knockoffs was a disrespect 2 themselves and prada…now if u really look @ these they look like they r tryin 2 hav gucci swagger wit da green and red colorway…and they even hav a pair dat resemble s.carter’s (which r gucci knockoffs)…i cant ever c myself wearin fila ever again bcuz u’ll just look like ur wearin fake pradas or guccis

i hate knock offs…fila did disappoint me too… but the cream fila original tennis classics are still the best.
