Throwback Thursday - Air Jordan 6 Carmine OG
Posted by Matt Halfhill | May 1, 2008 With the Carmine Air Jordan 6 making a comeback later this month, I thought it was time they deserved to get some shine on Throwback Thursday. The Air Jordan 6 is a legendary sneaker for a number of reasons. The sneakers were the third Air Jordan designed by Tinker Hatfield and though it was the last shoe to have clear soles (before returning on the Jordan 11) it was a first for many other things seen on Air Jordans.
The sole of the Jordan 6 was the first to feature the Jumpman in rubber. The Jumpman was present on the Jordan 5, but underneath the clear sole. The Jordan 6 was also the first of many to feature a non-traditional tongue with a neoprene sock style tongue. The Air Jordan 6 was also the first to have a tab on the back of the sneaker to easy the wearer to put their foot into the shoe. But most important of all, the Air Jordan 6 was the first shoe MJ won an NBA Championship in. It has taken Jordan Brand 17 years to bring back this classic. May 24th is the date circled on many Jordan head’s calendars when the Carmine Jordan 6 comes back in the 17/6 Countdown Pack. ^ what kills me is that the midsoles were PERFECT 3 or 4 years ago when I got them. Since I purchased them I have moved my collection 6 times and with each move something ALWAYS cracks. I don’t think a single pair of my OG DS Jordans from VI and lower are in uncracked condition anymore

The cracks suck but on the real these are still super fresh. Its not like you’d wear them anyways so a few cracks don’t really bother me.
So Matt, what other OG VIs do you have? I remember that a pair of the white/infrareds were in a photo from ages ago.

This is a great post. I am going to assume that when these come out I will be seeing them all over NYC.
They are bold and look good. I remember back in the day that I almost got them but took them back cause I didn’t have anything that matched… on sale too for 79.99 in Kings Plaza Footlocker (or some sneaker national chain) I guess they were on sale cause not too many people bought them or they just made too many (it was like almost a year after they originally came out).
Now I wish I kept them.
I never knew the history behind them either as being the first playoff win. Maybe I should try to get these, bu I just don’t want the 17’s. There cool and all, but the 17’s in black suede is not what I wish to see.

you know whats crazy is that the carmines are so ridiculously hot and rare that they aren’t bootlegged. every other memorable jordan is but the VI carmine.

Carmines are Classic, Good pics Matt even though the cracked midsoles hurt. I like how many people are copping 2 pairs. A pair to wear and a pair to stare. All the countdown packages seem to be one weak shoe, one strong shoe (except 11/12). I wish they were all strong shoes. This seems to be the first package that has come out that is close to that.

It was back in 2004 or 2005, but they set me back $450 with shipping. Just for kicks i looked at what a non cracked pair goes for and makes me really wish that I took better care of them during all of the moves

peoples just to inform u .
if u dont like the whole package and
only wish to get one pair
(like i do with this package)
you can split up buying it with someone who
would want the pair you dont want.
for example in men sizes who ever wants
to keep the box with
the pair they buy pay more,
but im my casinario i only have to pay $100
cuz im a size 5y and
im going to spilt with a friend
or u can just split the box(
if u kno how to or else you will break it && thats not good)

I remember a girl having these back in the 6th grade. She was pretty much the only person I remember having them, because they were sold out everywhere.
I ALSO remember my mom saying she’d buy me the white/maroon VI’s and she NEVER did.

for people to say that the J’s got cracks in them.. its because you dont take good care of your J’s. it order for it not to get cracked or the bottom not to turn yellow.. you keep in the box so it stays fresh or if anything .. keep em on ice

the reason why you got cracks on them and the bottom turns yellow .. its probably because you dont take good care of them and you wear them out too much. in order for the J’s to stay fresh.. keep them in the box or better yet.. keep em on ice ;).. but im coping the J’s this saturday. =) cant wait!!!

These are lower cut than the retroes, I saw from another post. And on the inside of the retroes, there’s black where there’s white on the OG’s. Inside as in outside inner midsole.
