Zoom Vick 5 returns as Game Day

Two days after the Falcons quarterback was indicted on federal dogfighting charges, Nike said it is suspending the release of its latest product bearing his name, the Zoom Vick 5. While it was reported that Nike stopped production of the shoes bearing Vick’s name, logo, and jersey number, the model wasn’t entirely scrapped. This Winter season will see the release of the Air Max Game Day which is essentially the Vick 5 sitting on an full length Air Max sole minus any direct connection to Vick. Priced at $125, it would take Michael Vick 1,042 hours washing dishes at his current wage of $0.12 per hour. If this was a 40 hour a week full time job, it would take him 6 months for perspective. |

Where is the hatred towards Vick in my article? I am clearly pointing out facts and not adding in what I personally think.
The point of the article was to point out that though Nike scrapped Michael Vick’s contract, they didn’t scrap his shoe. The price and I showed the math of how long it would take for Vick to earn the money to buy a pair of shoes.
Since people are putting words in my mouth, I will open this up to more than just shoes.
I strongly am against the injustice of our legal system and the light media casts on those under investigation. I am also strongly against how we handle those convicted of crimes. Rather than rehabilitating those who need it the prison system leeches off of essentially free labor (12 cents, give me a break!) and then places people back onto the streets with less skills than they had when they went in.
Do I think that dog fighting is ok, hell no. Do I think that lying to investigators is a good idea, of course not. Do I think that Vick was sentenced just to make an example out of him, most definitely. Was the purpose of this article to make fun of Vick? No.

Please stop hating on Vick, stick to conversations about the shoes and not the man. We all do not know what really happen, we know how the media lies and our government is shady. I would expect better from nicekicks ( i love this website)to let someone make such a comment in a article that should be about shoes and not an opinion about a person or smartalec remark. Lets stick to our opinion about shoes.

I do have to say that I was pretty shocked that Nike wouldn’t take the time to create a new upper…its not like this shoe was THAT nice looking.
Also, I noticed too that this was offered in the Nike Urban catalog despite its full length Air Max would make you think it would be pushed as a performance product…
