David Z x Asics GT Quick
Posted by Matt Halfhill | Jun 17, 2008 David Z and Asics have had a long and successful relationship that stretches far beyond the 5 pairs of Gel Lyte IIIs that two have produced. Following the trend of being the first to collab on a classic silhouette, David Z will be releasing the GT Quick this weekend in yet another colorway done by resident buyer Ronnie Fieg that casts a new light on the decade plus old cross trainer.
Though the upper is predominantly black, several different textures of leathers, patent leather, and perforated nubuck add visual interest to the shoe. Color was added to the shoe by way of speckles of aqua and purple on the midsole to tie in with the liner and tongue. This Thursday, the eve of the release, David Z and Complex Magazine will be hosting an instore event to celebrate the release of the David Z x Asics GT Quick at their new store on 7th Ave from 9-11PM. The following day, the shoes will be available online at DavidZ.com and at their flagship store in SoHo. Numbers are limited to only 200 pairs and hold a sticker price of $100. The first 50 instore customers will receive a high-grain leather Asics bag and matching shirt. Check out more photos and event flyer after the jump. David Z *UPDATE* - At the David Z event, Ronnie Fieg will be giving a sneak peek at another Asics Gel Lyte III that will be an upcoming David Z exclusive. |

Yeah when Ronnie told me last fall that he was going to do a GT Quick he immediately said not to look at anything online at Zappos or eBay because the inline colorups don’t give the shoe an ounce of justice.
Something hard to see in the photos is the texture of the leather around on the toe cap (around the toe). We’ll post some detailed shots of that in the coming days.

mic check,
I agree with you on that. Overall I have been a fan of most of the stuff Ronnie has cooked up, but I think that this is his best piece.
Colors, materials, and details are all on point with this pair. Just for kicks i googled “gt quick” and all the stuff Asics made before didn’t do this shoe half the justice that Ronnie did with this one.
Count me in for a pair!
