Nike Air Flight Lite High
Posted by Matt Halfhill | Jun 20, 2008 Earlier this week we gave you a preview of the upcoming Nike Air Pippen retros, but another shoe that Pippen wore in the earlier part of his career will return this fall. In the 1990-91 NBA season, Scottie Pippen represents Team Flight by wearing the Nike Air Flight Lite High for most of the season. While many remember the Jordan 6 for being the shoe MJ won his first ring, many forget that it was the Air Flight Lite on the feet of Scottie Pippen when he got his taste of ultimate victory.
Besides being remembered for being on Pippen’s feet, something that many vintage sneaker collectors remember the Air Flight Lite was for having a few bright color ways. For the shoes return the shoe will debut with “citron” accents in October followed by a colorway we could have expected to see Scottie wear in November with a box price of $110. |

Jus copped these the other day in the white/citron black. super lite, good ankle support, and mad comfortable!

Not grabbin’ a pair unless Black/Varsity Red-White, or something close.
Maybe Nike releases weak color schemes to trick people into coppin’ugly shoes up until a pair w/ a decent color scheme drop.

I got those as mids (or are they lows?) in all black. bought after the bulls won their 1st championship in 91!

Nike needs to quit playin’ around. We need to see these in Blk/wh nubuck in the lows and the Blk/purple nubuck in the highs ASAP. Everybody that was in the “shoe game†in the early 90’s gotta feel me on this one. Scottie won his first ‘chip in the Blk/Wh lows. How can they not retro these? If they do, I gotta have a least 3 pairs. hoops shoe hands down!!!
Which brings up a good throwback Thursday Matt. Why don’t you bring back the famous AIR shoe that Scottie wore during the 1996 playoffs. I cant think of the name of them but they had AIR in big letters on the side. He wore the all black with white trim for the playoffs that year (the 72-10 season, 4th championship ring/Jordan’s comeback year full season) I remember Pip also wore the white and navy pair for the olympics later that summer if I am not mistaken.

Nike needs to quit playin’ around. You’re talking about one the the coldest hoop shoes ever! They need to bring back the Blk/Wh nubuck in the Lows, and the Blk/Purple nubuck in the Highs. ASAP! i think there was a clear inset in the sole back then, it was under the arch. could see “nike air” logo right thru. i remember getting the air flights with the visible air sole, and they had the solid outsole. the black and purple colourway was fly…

Yep, part of the sole was clear on these, I do remember that from the pair I had in 6th grade (lol)…these are just nasty, cant wait…I’m feeling those citrons.

This gives me hope that the Flights Pippen wore in ‘93 are coming back as well! That’s the season where in the playoffs (for those who may not know), the Bulls played the Knicks at home and Scottie POSTERIZED Patrick Ewing!
And there was also a white/black/blue colorway, that Duke wore in the ACC Tourney, in Charlotte that season as well.
GOD, I miss those. But I somewhat remember these though, I was big on the Jordan shoes then, so I don’t really remember them thoroughly.

^ You can’t really compare the two shoes. That would be like comparing the Jordan 6 to the Converse Pro Legacy. These are a totally different type of shoe from the Air Pippens. The Air Pippens were built much more around cushioning where as these were built for quickness.
I am def feeling that citron color, but I hope Nike gets aggressive with some colors that are circa ‘91 if you feel me. I know that nikeindabutt knows what I’m talking about.
