Air Jordan 20 from Coutdown Pack
Posted by Matt Halfhill | Jul 30, 2008 While many heads have been looking forward to the October Countdown Pack featuring the Black/Cement Air Jordan III, don’t count on many people lining up for its other half. Some have complained about lopsided packs from the beginning, but pairing two shoes and balancing them equally is a bit of a challenge if you ask me. This Jordan CDP has a bit of an interesting side story to it being that the Jordan 3 was Tinker’s first Air Jordan and the Jordan 20 was his first since “retiring” after the Jordan 15.
The Jordan 20 that was called upon for the package is not exactly receiving as much love as it probably could have. A bit of a shock, Jordan Brand decided to call up the “regional” Air Jordan 20 and entirely black out the shoe. The regional Jordan 20s were far from being as popular to the other 20s in the line. One could find many of them hanging out at the outlets well after the Jordan 21 had released. Rarely do I inject personal opinion into my writing, (what you choose to wear is up to you!) but to hold silent about this is too hard. In a year that we are supposed to “Countdown” the Jordan shoes in what many thought would be a year of “greatest hits”, the trend seems to be that a package consists of one chart topper, and one ringtone rap classic. these arent too bad. Im actually digging them. some black cat 20’s with the lasering on it. not too shabby. i really want the 3’s tho, so regardless im getting the pack, gotta see how the 20’s fit and look on me before i decide if i’ll keep them or not.

This package will do well. Although i like the stealths better, this black/black colorway is hot. The reflective designs is a plus. And you cant go wrong with the classic black/cement 3’s.

These look TER-EI-BULL… Its like all the kicks in the CDP look like your local hustle mans bootlegs (as far as quality is concerned) or they just put one fugly shoe in with a classic… 7/16 CDP was the best package thus far… it had a grail and it had another classic OG… if this continues i cant say imma buy more and i have a feeling they are going to destroy the beloved 11/12 package and ruin my whole X-Mas lol

I don’t understand why so much people don’t like the 20’s, Tinker whent a whole different way with this design because it doesn’t look like a ordinary shoe but it works as a real performance shoe and that’s just what a basketball shoe need. I love the 20’s and I find it is the most beautiful shoe design till now.

Man i was looking forward to get the black clement 3’s with the red white and black 20s, a pair that i wanted when they came out and my brother was able to take me. i had forgotten about them and when the packs were coming out i thought this could be a chance to get those shoes but now i 310 for the 3s makes me think again.

This reminds me of the VII /XVI pack. I got to Finish Line and looked at the Hares and almost laughed. They looked terrible in person and felt cheap. Left them there disapointed. Can you hear us JB?

Looks like these shoes have the same material as the Jordan 17 CDPs.. which mean they will scuff up in transport, and have all sorts of markings by the time you take em out of the box, which means they won’t be worth nothing to no one.

Not going to buy this mess. Come on, Nike/JB! We can tell you’re giving us 1 sorry Jordan (in my opinion the III in this case!) and 1 good Jordan (XX), making one suede and one leather. All the count down packages have 1 leather and 1 suede to keep prices down. I’d pat $325-$350 if they’d release OG-like retros in each pack. I’ll just pray the AJFXXs will come out right.

cant believe everyone is hatin on the XX’s so bad, ofcourse everyone is gonna get the pack for the 3’s I am just glad that they did do a Black Cat XX. Its something different. I hav always bought every single AJ, and the XX wasnt one of my fav’s but to bring it back in this pack with a different flavor is a good idea. Original is good, thats where the 3 comes in, but i bet out of all the XX’s this color is better then the others. Even the Pic Air Daniel has are pretty good (look at comment 32)

well, i never liked the 20’s. i never knew how to wear em. guys would let those straps cuff around their jeans. i dont like that. but for me, going plain black for shoes like this works for me. i guess the black ones are better, but those came out 3 years ago. thats too soon. and you guys know it. so why are you guys getting mad? they would never release that same color so close in time

I hope Jordan Brand or Nike has people reading feedback like this. I know they check ebay to see public interest. These are way beyond bad. You can get a nice pair of Js on ebay from a reputable seller for the $310 plus tax ($330 where I’m from).
Like someone above said, this is just Jordan saying we will buy whatever they produce.

JB really needs to start consulting with influencers like Matt to at least get SOME good input. Like mic check 212 said, this shoe is like a Soulja Boy track next to any Run DMC classic hahaha.

THIS IS A DEFINITE PASS!! I AGREE WIT MATT as everyone has been saying its the 23 Countdown pack, so Numbers add up to 23 - and it just so happens to be a HOT SELLER, AND and OUTLET DUST PAIR! Not to mention they try to make us think its hot by making the weak pair a different colorway, or change minor details..Im glad I sold my jordans a few years ago, and I was kinda excited with the concept of the CDP’s - but I have yet to buy a single one! abelino, you’re idiot, period, point blank. Why does a person have to be “broke” or have to say they “can’t afford them” because they make a pass on the CDP?
Honestly, there’s NO POINT in paying $310 ($330+ when you add tax) for ONE SHOE you like and then stuck with one you won’t even take out to look at. ESPECIALLY this pack.
It’s not even “worth” an actual “I’ll think about it,” all because of the III’s in the pack. I’d rather spend almost $300 for the III’s alone, rather than WASTE the dough on the entire pack… as much as I’m sure others will also.
This is why sites like Citysole and FCNY/LA offer the sneakers in “half packs” because people don’t want GARBAGE paired with the greatest of the greats.
All we heard/read about was this idea of the “Countdown Pack,” pairing some of the best Jordans with one another, in celebration of the XX3 and the 23rd year of the Jordan sneaker, then we get bamboozled and hit upside the head with weak colorways and are supposed to buy them?
You can have them (these), because fact of the matter of this, if those all black XX’s were released when the Regional XX first dropped, it would’ve been in the outlests, faster than Burlington Coat Factory gets defective clothing.

To the author of this article: Much respect for the heart to tell the facts. No need to hype these and you didn’t. The packs have become soooo disapointing. No more retro’s after these? Somehow they’ve managed to turned a potentially good pack, for BOTH SHOES (had the Stealths been released) into another “One Hit Wonder.”

I really wanted to get this pack the 3’s are my favorites but I hated the 20 the strap just kills the shoe for me. Now they make this ugly all black ones it makes the 20’s even worse. I maybe will still cop and use the 20’s to ball.

I THINK THAT YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO GO TO YOUR LOCAL RETAILER AND PURCHASE WHAT EVER JORDAN SHOE THAT YOU WANT THE DEMAND FOR J’S IS MUCH HIGHER THAN THE SUPPLY THATS WHY THEY ARE ABLE TO CONTROL THE CONSUMERS BUYING POWER. the threes are also the first shoe wit hthe jumpman[i guess its because mj won the slam dunk contest the year before] the only packs im getting are the 21/2 and 11/12. maybe the 10/13 also.

Alright, so 2007 was “THE YEAR OF AIR FORCE ONES” which was, in my mind, a major let down. Now 2008 is “THE YEAR OF JORDAN” celebrating 23 years, and JB does so with these combinations of retros?!

Given that it’s only really in the last year that I’ve gotten back into sneakers, the CDPs have been a grave disappointment for me. As someone who’s just starting a collection it means that all of these Jordans are out of range, particularly as I’m limited to internet purchases (very few stores are dropping these on this side of the pond). It is literally impossible for me to get a hold of a pack for less that £200, and given that each pack provides one shoe that I actively don’t want, it’s just too expensive.
Give me QS releases of retro classics and I’m in.

Don’t come on here trying to hustle that 23iswack site. All that site does is steal photos and then tags their name on it. Maybe Matt won’t post up photos or info as soon as it hits the web, but thats because Matt has a relationship he has to keep with Jordan Brand and Nike. these look like a pair of knock-offs that “hustleman” would sell 2 u for $85! its about waiting 4 tha right month 2 GET A PAIR OF exclusive jordans. i like 2 let a pair of jordans come out and they will be full price and then tha shoe will go on sale depending on what shoe it is.these 2-pair packages sell fast and tha sizes are hard 2 find,for example:4 those of u who go on (23isaback.com)….yeah.!this is the official website with release dates and shoes that don’t even be seen on nicekicks.com until about a week later.. tha 2pair packages

man thats that @#*(@# i be talkin about. i was hyped because i heard the 20’s would be the Stealth joints and i really wanted those. so here i am thinkin “yess, finally a pack where i want BOTH shoes”…..NO!! they come in with this “wolf dookie”. i mean, damn, they couldn’t throw a LITTLE red on them joints?! i might as well use that to ball on the indoor courts or somethin. i ought to go up to nike/jordan brand and stick this “size 12 in Jordans and 13 in Air Max” foot up some A$$!!!

Why?
I like the “black out” idea, but not for the Countdown Pack. I wanted to get the III + XX pack, but I am not too sure now.
Unlike most people, I really wanted the XX’s just as much as the III’s… now I don’t know what to do.
I may get the V + XVII cause those V’s are worth it (and the XVII’s are ok enough to get the whole pack)
