Many of us sneakerheads are also proud parents and there is no way our kid will endure a childhood of sportin the skippies that some of us had to wear. New Balance and Sesame Street has a new set of kicks to make sure that our kids are laced properly.
Many companies have come with the comics, cartoon, and kid’s show “inspired” sneakers, but New Balance has an official deal with the PBS show we ALL grew up on. New Balance has released the classic 574 in a series of Sesame Street styles including pairs modeled after Elmo, Cookie Monster, and Oscar the Grouch. Besides colors and imagery of the respective characters, the liner and tongue feature a furry material similar to that of the character the shoe represents.
New Balance Kids has long been a financial supporter of Sesame Street and other programs to promote children health, but these sneakers take this commitment another step further. The Sesame Street New Balance shoes come in sizes from infant size up to grade school sizes - sorry adults.
Finishline has the entire lineup from toddler to gradeschool. |

by the way don’t tell the sales people there for you. they try to make you think there NOT for adults. just say there for your older son or daughter. see i work for footlocker. not allowed to wear them to work. or order them online. a lot of kids shoes will fit just ask for largest size and that there for a kid..

I really have been a fan of sesame street since I was a child. I just got the Count shoes for my 2 daughters and it’s a shame you don’t have them in adult sizes because I really like the Cookie Monster shoes!!!!!

These shoes are great. My two year old daughter went crazy when she saw the commerical…’Mommy, I want that…I want that!”. However, I am a little disappointed. None of the shoes are really geared toward girls. (Yes, she could wear any of them) BUT…What about ‘Zoe’, the little girl monster like ‘Elmo”. She should have a pink and red shoe for the girls.
But…I guess we will go for ‘Elmo’.
Oh and great price to…$24.99 in Atlanta, GA

These are really clean. I currently work at Kids Foot Locker and we got the GS sizes about 2 weeks ago. We’ve had the infant sizes for over a month now, and they’re pretty much sold out. I like the Oscar’s personally.

^^ Co-sign. I would also copp some of those NB kicks if they didn’t have the cartoon characters on them. The face and eyes on the tongue is all you really need. Fresh kicks, all-around!
Jul 14, 2008 at 4:44 pm
ill agree with nicekicks….i too would cop these shoes if they dint have the sesame street characters on the toe
Jul 14, 2008 at 4:32 pm
Matt I am with you about the Cookie Monsters and the Oscar the grouchs. I would wear both of those sans cartoons on the front.
Jul 14, 2008 at 4:30 pm

Jul 14, 2008 at 3:40 pm
the cookie monster’s are dope as hell. id rock them in 13s if i could. the toon on the toe is a bit much, but i do love cookies though, so i guess it aight

Jul 14, 2008 at 1:02 pm

She goes nuts the second the “Elmo’s World” starts playing every morning too

Jul 14, 2008 at 12:06 pm
^ agreed with that. I actually just bought the Oscar and Cookie Monster’s for my son. Thanks for the link!
Jul 14, 2008 at 11:59 am
If they stripped the cartoon image on the toe cap, I would rock the crap out of the Cookie Monster and Oscar the Grouch’s.
The shoes look even better in person. I was pretty impressed by this collection. It’s also good to know that the sale of these shoes support the show unlike the “inspired” (aka bites) that some others have done before.
