Nike Air Yeezy Detailed Shots

Nike’s man of mystery this year has definitely been the Kanye West’s Nike Air Yeezy. The world first caught a glimpse in February when Kanye wore the shoes on stage during a Grammy performance and it wasn’t until slipped some info in an interview later that month that Kanye let it slip that the shoe was not just an exclusive for him, but rather “[the Nike Air Yeezy] wasn’t out yet.” Since then we have seen numerous photos of Kanye wearing the Air Yeezy on and off stage in multiple color ups and Mr. West has even helped give us some sneak peeks from his blog at Kanye Universecity. Now, we have a first, high resolution photos of the Nike Air Yeezy. Sole Collector was granted the all access pass to the shoes and from the lighting and resolution, one can tell that these got some time in a studio setting. In addition to a detailed look at the Yeezy as we know it, there also was a never before seen photo of what looks like the Air Yeezy on a Jordan 4 outsole. What also is interesting that we found is that the Air Yeezy has been a concept that has been in the works for quite a while. Posted on Kanye’s manager, Don C’s blog, we found pics of Kanye West sitting next to Nike’s CEO Mark Parker working on sketches on Nike’s private jet. The blog post is dated for December 11, 2006 which was the day after the Nike 1 Night Only event. More shots after the jump. Sadly, we noticed that another shoe that Kanye has worn, the Ato Matsumoto boots are one of the latest victims to the fake trade. With so many advance photos and the fact the Yeezy is made primarily of components that bootleg factories are already making, we are afraid of what we will see on the floor of the MAGIC Tradeshow later this month. :-/ A question we would like to ask you, since the Air Yeezy has been seen for many months online, do you feel less hyped about the shoes? |

the shoes aren’t coming out. I’ve spent this past week at Nike in the department responsible for making these. No different than any other custom pair they construct for athletes, etc.

Yes, I feel less hyped. I’m not a fan of the shoe but am of Kanye (& hell yeah I like Lil Wayne, KRS One, PE, Kids In The Hall, EPMD, Run-DMC, Fabolous, Ice-T, Scarface, ATCQ & KARDINAL OFFISHALL! WHAT!?) At the end of the day I was never interested in getting these I’m definitely interested in seeing how they do in the market & who’s got them on. After this weekend at the Caribana Parade I saw sooooo many kicks that I wouldn’t expect people to wear to a parade (I mean your De La High’s kid!?!? Really? Those are your beaters?) But it was also dope to see HOW PEOPLE ROCKED THEM! & that’s what makes kicks & fashion so dope. So for me all this internet hype is fantastic marketing but at the end of the day, the streets always had the final say. Look at it like this, how many people u see rocking Kobe jerseys? Now how many people rock Kobe shoes? You see some things the street just doesn’t care for.

I like the design of these shoes. The black and white colorway is really attaching to me. As for those who say, “thes suck kaney shuold just stick 2 rappin”, are idiots. As far as how I feel about them (now that so much time has passed) - I can’t say I was always “hyped up” about the potential release of them, since it’s gonna be VERY HARD to get my hands on them.
Considering the fact it’s gonna be Tier-0, already cuts my chances more than in half. And going the eBay route for these will immediately cost about $500.00+! I may even be understating that number by another $500.00, considering what happened with the McFly Hyperdunks.

You know, maybe the reason an early leak of the photos isn’t working for the air yeezy like it did for the XI is because Kanye just isn’t like mike.
Kanye is not to hip-hop as Jordan is to basketball, for more than one reason. There is no near-universal opinion that Kanye is the greatest rapper of all time or even the greatest rapper active right now. Kanye doesnt have a line of succesfuls shoes that have already been released.
Maybe that is why showing this shoe so early isn’t working as it did for the XI? Or maybe it’s because the XI was just a better design?
We won’t know how the shoe did until it releases anyway.

I think that’s a valid point you bring up Matt.
I first was REALLY going nuts over these shoes, but now, even though I think they are hot, I am just not so amped anymore. My local spot told me they won’t be out until spring or maybe summer of next year and if you ask me, I really can’t see that they will mean that much to me by then.
The thing that is so weird to me is that Nike seems to be on top of doing special campaigns and especially since this is the FIRST shoe for a hip hop artist. Its not just a collab one a shoe - its a whole new sku!
I dunno, either Nike knew all along that Kanye was going to leak photos like he did, or that wasn’t in the plans. Normally a brand doesn’t want to leak information or shots to the public if its something they want to sell based on hype.
About the bootlegs, I am ASTONISHED that there aren’t any on Canal Street yet. I mean, this shoe cant be that damn hard to copy like you said. Jordan 3 outsole (they bootleggin’ that), higher cut Jordan 5 or Air Force V (not hard to do), throw a few straps on it and a swoosh and there will be plenty of lames who will buy them. I have a $20 bet with my friend though that i will find at least one company at the magic show that has knocked off the yeezy for sure. Who knows, maybe even 310 Footwear will have something lol

I have been into them from the first moment I caught a pic–which was a while ago at this point. I love that toe box and cap. They look incredibly comfortable. Those brown and orange ones… wow. The brown part looks like my leather couch. Love the style.
As a side note, I’m also a big fan of Kanye, but that’s not why I like the shoe. I do, though, think the cat has awesome style. And he’s the best hip-hop artist in the game right now (sorry Yeezy).
Also, I like frankensneakers.

I agree with #1, I was never really excited to begin with. Now I will say it is a unique shoe, but I think the main reason it will sell is because it is dubbed the “Air Yeezy” Just think back to some of the other questionable design’s Nike had created that were mostly hated by the masses they would just end up sitting around till they hit sales racks, and honestly I think it would be the same thing if this shoe wasnt called the “Air Jeezy”…This is just my opinion though.

The hype has far outweighed anything else - but its what the game has become! I dont think these will ever see the day of light, Kanye is known for exclusive style, and I cant see him wanting to have these drop until he is done wearing them and on to perhaps AIR Yeezy II…So if they do drop as Tier 1 - it will be a waste..and only for those true sole collectors..
