Classic Kicks x Vans Midschool ‘77
Posted by Matt Halfhill | Sep 3, 2008
New York’s Classic Kicks has teamed up with Vans for a collaboration that illustrates their passion for timeless sneakers. Rather than applying a new colorup or new material to an existing model in the Vans catalog, the Classic Kicks team asked if Vans could bring back a model that they spotted in a Vans ad from years ago.
For colors, Classic Kicks went with the original blue color as well as added a historically consistent red. The materials used on the shoes are much closer to the original shoes than many of the remakes of other Vans shoes. The Classic Kicks x Vans Midschool ‘77 will go on sale Saturday, September 6th exclusively at Classic Kicks in the US for $80 per pair. Other shops across the globe receiving stock will be Patta of Amsterdam, collete of Paris, and essence of Yokohama. Pics and info thanks to Hype Beast.

rod, your going a little far saying they bit the retro hype. seeing as they have been making the same shoes for years and years, classics got popular before the retro hype started.
Vans, in my book are more like entreprenuers of the retro hype. Back when people were still buying huge t-shirts and huge baggy jeans is when vans got popular..
before that they were popular to old school skaters..
so to say they are bitting the retro hype is taking it too far.
nike took its own things from vans also, ever heard of the Nike SB Zoom Air Harbor’s?
take a look at them, tell me..what do they look like? vans classics.
the air harbors were made just recently also. i am pretty sure circa 2006.
classics were made circa 1970-ish..when the first skateboards came out.
but back to the kicks..i feel these are clean, you could wear them with alot of stuff. I will definetly get my hands on a pair sooner or later.

shaun, nike did the blazer in 1972. I think thats before 1977. and now it’s 2008..vans not only bit the blazer, they’re bitting the retro hype.
