Posted by George Kiel III | Sep 9, 2008 Could Supra be a new staple in Hip Hop fashion? Well, if not hip hop, Lil Wayne seems to have a fetish for them. Over the past year, Supra have caught the eye of many rappers (Kanye, Pharrell, Jay-Z, Lil Wayne…just to name a few).Â
Just recently, during the VMA Awards, Lil Wayne sported three different sets of these incomparable sneakers throughout the show. Wayne switched his shoes like a basketball player at halftime (a la Kobe Bryant during the Beijing Olympics) not once…but three times during the show. The self-proclaimed best rapper alive performed in the skate-ready Black Supra TUF Skytops, then changing into an exclusive Vaider to accept his Best Hip Hop Video Award for Lollipop. The Supra Vaiders were initially made for FallOut Boy member Pete Wentz for his 29th birthday. There are only 29 pairs in existence. He ended the night onstage with Kid Rock (yes…Kid Rock) in some red patent leather NS Skytops. I wouldn’t say he’s a bad rapper though… just needs better guidance than what Baby is giving him. Wayne is the best rapper alive. Hova has not been holding it down, kicking back and chillaxing in these his retirement years. He hasn’t blown me away since the black album. (have you heard his Deshawn Stevenson blast, lame hova).
Best hip-hop/rap artist though, that crown goes to my man Mr. West. His albums blast from beginning to end. I like his lyrics, I LOVE his beats.
Anyways, got love for the supra’s. Not really my style, but I think they cool. The new Jordan Ol’ skools got a look of supra to them, might cop.
