Air Jordan 1 Georgetown Hoyas

Nike Air Jordan 1 Georgetown HoyasIf you are too young to remember, this is a picture of Michael Jordan shooting the infamous shot that buried Patrick Ewing and the Georgetown Hoyas in the 1982 NCAA Championship.  Jordan entered the league after another two strong seasons at UNC declaring early in the 1984 draft.  The following spring a special sample of Georgetown Hoyas edition Air Jordan 1s were made, but the shoes were never produced.

I personally have never seen the Georgetown Hoyas Air Jordan 1 until now and I will likely never see them again.  The shoes were spotted on eBay for a very hefty price of $7,999.00.

idk, why would someone make a new ebay account to sell these, if they legit then you would want potential buyers to feel comfortable about buying from you. the new ebay account is so this person can get these off and delete the account, probably has a temporary paypal and bank account to that he set up just to do this transaction. setting all that up is free.

so wait lemme see, the stitching on the sole is yellowing, the tongue is yellowing and the insole is yellowing but the sticker that has been on the insole since 1985 is still perfectly white?????

WOW, YOU ARE NOT KIDDING ME… HOLY SH*T…

    “BK-Big-Jay”
    I’m a see what I can do!
I saw them And though cant be real!!?? To good to be true…

  5. calikid

these are legit, I think there are 3 pair in existence.

    expensive though!

  6. Professor C

The only bad question is the one not asked…..yes Swood. Peep this…I used to get nikes for $1.00 a pair and would expire them, in 2 days of ol skool ballin’. If you wanted a real pair, you got them through the base retail store or catalog order.

  7. Swood

Was there really even much of a counterfeit sneaker market in ‘85?

  8. jerronimo

hmmmmm……these are suspect. No detailed history to go along with a shoe that rare? C’mon who are they kidding.

  9. BK-Big-Jay

scribbles23 you did? see if you can find that auction again, because i want to see if there are fakes flying around. these were never bid on. so they never started at 200. unless they changed the starting bid. which i highly doubt. nobody wold take the L by starting so lw. they might not have broke 1,000

  10. collectur

You would think that if they where real they would put who they were made for. Normally if a college player gets some samples the person posting the kicks would tell the bidders who owned them.

  11. YouKnow

i think they are a hot shoe regardless being fake or real. never would i buy them though, not for 7 grand anyways.

  12. scribbles23

    I saw These!!! Yesterday!! @ $200.00…
I didnt think they would get up there So quick!!

  14. BK-Big-Jay

so, theres not 1 jordan logo on this shoe then… ok

  15. Anonymous

Hey BK-Big-Jay…these not goin have a “wings” logo cuz they replaced it with “HOYAS”.

  16. BK-Big-Jay

i just didn’t think there would be samples for Georgetown, of all schools. mike had trouble enough not getting in trouble for wearing his shoes. this shoe must be worth at least 15,000 in my opinion. if legit. no one ever heard of these, or ever seen them. this is a first. how many ever existed? no one probably knows. that was a long time ago. and i want to seethe wings logo. why not show us the wings? i need more

  18. 85AirStar

    That’s why I dont mess wit E-Bay!!!

  19. Professor C

I grew up in the far east, and from the looks of this shoes’ date, there is a conflict in 850208 and the tag dated feb 18, 1985. a difference of Ten days! As a young kid you could find anything, anything stateside and add your own twist/ colorway and it would be reproduced almost to the original standards. my educated guess, a serviceman stationed in korea had these shoes made! SAY NO to FAKES!!!! Looks like a gov’t typing font on the label!

  20. kyle

first comment the dude made a new ebay account thats why he has 0 feedback

  21. Mars

Sample sizes are usually 9 or 13. I’ve never seen sample size 9.5 in nikes unless they are special make ups or wear testers.

How bout we get off the retro train already? Let’s see new, fresh, innovation and no more unoriginal, classic-ruining fusion crap - it’s like shoe incest.

Innovation stays ahead of and possibly inhibits the counterfeits.

    I don’t like these anyway
and if what Ikon Radio said is true about bootleggers getting smarter we’re all in trouble.

  25. RetroBoss

Just when you think you know it all we get a curve ball..hahaha.

They appear to be real.. I mean id like to believe it. They look so nice. Just 2 things though….
    1. I thought sample sizes were 9.
    2. Ive seen Jordan 1 samples before and it had sample stamped on the side along with the size and sku

Who knows??? Maybe these wee the 1st counterfeit Jordans in history…

  26. TokyoMike

Alot of small shops in Tokyo have OG Jordan I’s that are in incredible shape…..yeah, the soles are a bit yellow, but the leather has no cracks/creases and they look very good, maybe an 8.5 outta 10 as far as condition….I guess it comes down to how well the owner takes care of em….take a shoe, keep it outta the sun, keep the moisture away, and it’ll keep in pretty good condition for alot longer than people may think.
As far as these, the condition of the tag looks too good….tag looks like it was printed a month ago…..maybe the fakers took a look at Nike’s recent “vintage” kicks (Terminators and Vandals) and cooked these bad boys up…..

  27. rauls054

I SAW THESE YESTURDAY WHILE I WAS SCANING THROUGH EBAY AND NOW I SEE THEM HERE BUT WHEN I SAW THEM THEY ONLY HAD ONE PIC I DONT KNOW ABOUT THIS SHOE IT LOOKS TO CLEAN :)

  28. IkonRadio

Man I heard an appalling story that makes me want to stay away from buying sneakers online…. WELL AT LEAST FROM UNTRUSTED EBAYERS….

One of my homeboy’s friend bought a pair of “OG” Air Jordan IV’s (Nike AIR) on there from a seller with like 5 feedback. 100% but still only 5.

Turns out that this shoe is counterfeit. He took it to a sneakerswap kinda like DXC in Cali and somebody broke it down for him.

The shoe looked OG, yellowing, cracking, everything. It didn’t come with a box but now I’m led to believe that counterfeiters are getting smarter now and instead of making $70 knockoffs, they would rather take a chance asking for $400 plus hoping that somebody doesn’t know how to compare OG vs. knockoffs. I personally wouldn’t have taken a chance on them, but a lot of “heads” would give em a second look.

I wish he still had the shoes. He discarded them before I could ask for them to take pictures…. And of course, the e-bay account was closed. :(

Hopefully this is just an isolated incident and not a growing trend.

Sorry NiceKicks for typing so long lol!

  29. Brooklynnyc3000

I might love JORDANS, but I’m not crazy, spending that much on a pair of sneakers is ridiculous.

Good Luck to the person that won these.

  30. terrell

I gotta get at #1 lol.
First off, the first batch of og 1’s were all made in korea. Check every og pair they all say korea.
Second, OG 1’s for the most part are the jordan that best stands the test of time if properly cared for. Every other OG jordan tends to fall apart even if theyre DS.
Third, these shoes could possibly be fakes but i highly doubt it for the fact that it has all the proper serial tags (serial tags of the 80’s), sample sticker, and that nike has always had a good relationship and contract with Georgetown university.
Fourth, some samples dont come with boxes.
    but what do i know…

  31. blizzy

They look Hot, i save the pics too!!

“cant trust a 23 year old shoe that has no cracks whatsoever” - BK-Big-Jay

I held back on posting this auction until I received better photos. The feedback story is very fishy of having a 0 feedback.

I just received a pair of ‘85 Jordan 1s that dont have any cracking. You can find them in perfect shape, but only if the owners took great care of them.

  33. kevin chea

    $7,999?!?!?!

  34. and whut

i ought to go to Korea and find Tong Yang Rubber ENT.Co and smack the hell out of them…

  35. ReppinTXHARD

…These are a “sample” which means they didnt make it into production, thus the reason for no actual SKU or UPC number…Do you see the date on that tag? and the size stamp on the inside of the shoe is legit (1985 mind you). And as for the aging part, look at the seams of the soles and the glue…its turned yellow! And check the cracks on the tongue…but obviously never worn

  36. and whut

who-ever buys them will be the new $7,999.00.proud owner of some fakes… Happy bidding

  37. BK-Big-Jay

either way, i’m gona save this pic, just in case these are real deal holyfeild. never heard of em either.

  38. jrdnfnatic

    crazy…

  39. BK-Big-Jay

how do we know these aren’t basuda? never ever heard of jordans bein made in Korea. i know of Taiwan, and China. im guessing these aren’t old, as i see no cracking in them. i also see zero feedback. not sure. doesn’t have any official tags in them. could be wrong, but im curious how this person got these. georgetown colorway? never ever heard of it. im no kicks expert, but seriously. i never did. my logic is, theres no box, i see no cracking, so they aren’t that old, but i see no tags that newer jordans, and ALL shoes have on the inside. all i get is a lil printed 9.5 on the side with a sticker. when did they ever make legit J’s like that? even the samples have tags on the inside that say ”SAMPLE” with the numbers and traditional tags. cant trust a 23 year old shoe that has no cracks whatsoever
