Air Jordan 2009 First Look
Posted by Matt Halfhill | Nov 26, 2008 Yesterday we posted up a quick sketch of what was supposedly the Air Jordan 2009, but thanks to Sneaker News, we now have photos of an actual pair. Since Jordan Brand and Nike are both masters at throwing out decoys, it is a little premature to confirm that this is exactly how the final product will look when the shoes release in February, but it should give us a pretty good indication.
All year long we have heard from Gentry Humphrey, D’Wayne Edwards, and others from JB that the Jordan XX3 would be the last numbered model of Jordans and it looks like that is the case. Have a look at more shots after the jump. How does the Air Jordan 2009 look to you?

Here in San Francisco, at our Ross Dress For Less store, I bought a pair of these Jordan’s for $34.99. It was the only pair they had, but, I thought I was dreaming!, or that it had to be a knockoff for a $190 shoe to fall that far in price soo fast. This sneaker is the “ANTI” Jordan as the leather feels fake!, and the only thing convincing about them was the marble bottoms. As aforementioned, these shoes look like they can be found at any KMart, or WalMart, similar to the Shaq sneakers. A real shame.

Well, let me try to find something positive about this creation… I think the black running along the bottom is pretty good… and they look better in larger sizes, like in the commercial. The back is the worst part…

Nike and Jordan need to do a lot more research on their products. It seems they’ve have gotten so into themselves in their designs and feel like us sneaker heads will buy anything they put out. Now that 23 is officially a last in numbered pairs, sales of Jordan Products will drop dramatically if they keep coming up with unattractive kicks like this. They need to go back and keep it simple. After 15, the pairs designs have been so questionable. Please Jordan and Nike…… get more opinions from actual consumers who spend hundreds of dollars monthly on your products. The ones who keep your wallets full and income high. These latest designs you bring out is dissapointing a lot of fans. With the Economy the way it is…. we will find better ways to spend our money.

Yes, these are horrible looking, and no one would buy them looking like this, but c’mon, it’s not like this is the final product with a release date.
However, $190? Def pass.
Retros (no apostrophe needed because it doesn’t need one to be plural, just like “Jordan’s” needs to be “Jordans), would be a good business move.
Maybe they could re-release retros with original colorways and newer colorways? Or a similar CDP concept with the most popular Jordan models based on an on-line vote? That would get the people who buy the shoes involved, you know?

they look pretty ugly to me but then so did the sample xx3s when i 1st saw them and now i have 2 xx3s. final products rarely release exctly like the ist samples so im hoping these will be better by the time they release. 190 seems real steep though. i was pretty reluctant to buy the xx3s for that price.

i believe JB should take the year off and do some serious soul searching. especially when we all had to get a second job just to keep up with this year. the designs get worse and worse, but because we are jordan heads, we keep buying and buying. i think its time now to sit back and relax and enjoy our kicks for a year. come back 2010 strong as ever and keep making retro kicks. we like the ones he actually wore the best. and of course….please stop making after the xx3.. it is quite disgraceful!!!

comment 120 is truth; these are some decoy, poo-butt samples to throw all of you off. But if these are actually released, then AHAHAHAHAHAHL OLOLOLOL AHAHAHA JORDAN BRAND FAILS AT LIFE. HANDS DOWN. That would be the most foolish move in the history of their company… and obv. they can’t make that many retroes because then their brand will have more pairs which equals less hype around releases such as CDPs, equalling in less people wanting them. It’s all about the respect that people get wearing a pair (although that isn’t much nowadays, considering the limited amount of authentic products and the LARGE amount of FAKES). I think it’s smart, but if they really wanted income they’d release the retros to create a steady cash flow instead of making all the money off of each big release. They should also stop making garbage like THIS.

kinda reminds me of the tmacs from adidas bout 5 to 6 yrs ago. its an early design which makes it interesting, will have to wait and see how they finish it off. im more interested in the approach of the true flights. making ball shoes is what jordan WAS about. they need to start goin back to makin them for ball with a slight casual design (11s 12s)

I don’t really think they’re all that bad looking, they are expensive for sure, but to me they look like what a Jordan would like in 2009. Everybody is always jumping on a bandwagon, like” the only nice Jordans are from 3-11 or 14, whatever!! All of the Jordans have been nice looking except for the XV’s and those were even groundbreaking for the time. That’s a fact that is undisputable, the Jordan shoe is always groundbreaking in it’s design and technology. If you don’t like them, don’t buy them, you people are crazy to think that just because you don’t buy the shoe it’s going to end up on the discount rack(only b-grades)For everyone that wont spend the money, ten people will, so get over it. The Jordan Brand is here to stay. I’ll have a pair the day they drop.

I cant believe some of you consider yourselves jordan fanatics when you dont even give JBs creations a chance. Im not sayin i like this particular pair. It comes across as the 16’s, the melo m5, the 23, and some and 1’s put together. But all im sayin is this isnt the FINAL PRODUCT. when it releases in february i am 100% sure this isnt what it will look like! now they use these websites as critique for the shoes. so i think that it looks way too much like other jordans and it almost looks cheap. jordan is famous for UNIQUE designs, and theres really nothin that stands out on these to me.

Don’t these remind anyone of 14s fused wiht 11s fused with 18s? 18s are reallly only evident in the sole but I think you can see the 11s and 14s easily.
I don’t think this is going to be the 2009 jordan for just that reason, it’s too similar to previous releases. But then again that’s what they did for the new Melo…
