Nike LeBron James “Chalk” Commercial
Posted by George Kiel III | Nov 25, 2008LeBron James will be bringing Thanksgiving to you…well not quite. On Thanksgiving Day, Nike will debut its latest television ad promoting James’s latest sneaker, the Nike Zoom Lebron 6. “Chalk”, the name given to this sneaker promotion, takes its inspiration from King James’s pre-game ritual in which he hoists talcum powder into the air at the scorers’ table before each game.
While the main focus of the ad is about LeBron and his latest sneaker, he will not be alone. Familiar faces such as Lil Wayne, Greg Oden, LaMarcus Aldridge, Brandon Roy, Daniel Gibson, Anderson Varejao, and J.J. Hicks will all appear in the 30 and 60-second television showing more shots and faces than the original 15 second spot we posted before.
This ad will air nationally on Thanksgiving Day during the NFL games on CBS and Fox and also on other TV stations such as ABC, ESPN, BET and MTV.

Certain types of that chalk cause cancer. I would hate to be the people breathing in that stuff near the court. Stupid stuff.

whats the name of the song in the backround
Dec 11, 2008 at 1:08 pm
Firstly, the man’s name is JJ HICKSON, not JJ HICKS.
Secondly, Lebron ain’t goin’ nowhere. He said it himself in a pre-election speech in Cleveland. To quote the king himself, “I love Cleveland and I ain’t goin’ nowhere.” New York is struggling right now. Lebron may think MSG is a great place to play, but he is still a global icon IN CLEVELAND. He has been a global icon for some time now. He doesn’t require a larger market to sell his shoes. I’m sure there are little kids in China with posters of Lebron on their walls. Why would he go to New York to play for a struggling team with an offensive-minded coach (Lebron knows defense wins championships and he has said it before) when Cleveland can pay him a larger contract than any other team in 2010 and the Cavs are playing like the best team in the NBA right now? Just a few things to think about…

post #28 you are an idiot.nothing in the world to worry about? school, homework, peer pressure, the list goes on. the girl is just GOOD period. obviously you have never played organized basketball. size does matter but skill is much more of an asset. the real question should be what kind of sissy boys dont want to play against her? black or white they just stink and should be ashamed of themselves.
Dec 4, 2008 at 7:53 pm
that girl is only 13 and she’s 6 foot tall . hmm I wonder why she’s good . strong black woman ? what kina crap is that ? the girls parents got money so she’s got nothing in the world to care about besides playing basketball . any body can be as good as her and better if they put the time in
Dec 2, 2008 at 11:02 pm
anybody know that song?
Nov 30, 2008 at 7:38 pm

Nov 30, 2008 at 7:24 pm
You think too much bro, i think he just wants a few more brothas and sistas on television

I can’t help but think that this commerical has something to do with the recent election results. There are a lot of African Americans in this commerical throwing “white powder” … ridding themselves of Bush? The white man?

lebron’s wack. he took that sh*t from KG. and now he doin it like he started it!
Nov 26, 2008 at 10:25 pm
That girl at 00:41 was on E60 a few days ago, shes a 13 yr old who is 6′1 in Oregon who got kickedd off of her travel team for being to good when she played with the boys and embarrassed all of em with her Candice Paker like game….but she and her parents took legal action and six months later she is back on the team. I cant believe sexism even exists in Youth Sports, I guess those cookie cutter moms didnt want a strong black young women dunkin on their spoiled kids(who said nothing about her being better them)….anyway tight commercial….btw pretty contrevsial move to take Wayne’s chalk/coke toss off…
Nov 26, 2008 at 8:25 pm
gotta love nike…no info about the shoes in the ad…only selling that image…genius

As much as I’m NOT a huge “fan” of Lil Wayne, some of you people are going to hard now days, to separate yourselves from those who ARE “fans.”
The purpose of him brushing the powder off his shoes, is to show the newly released, ALL BLACK version of the LeBron VI.
Simpletons.

For all you Cleveland fans - wave goodbye to your star Lebron. Do you guys ever wonder why he wears all these new shoes when in New York and makes such a big deal out of playing at MSG? BECAUSE he wants to be there! What can be bigger for him to be playing in the sports capital of the world. The Nike Zoom Lebron VI “big apple” is just foreshadowing the imminent. my thoughts http://jib-sports-culture.blogspot.com/2008/11/lebron-vi-big-apple-foreshadows-lebron.html

Talcum powder!?!?!? You trying to get people killed lmao.
Nov 25, 2008 at 10:03 pm
talcum powder? Doesnt that stuff causes CANCER? wow LBJ is trying to kill everyone. He almost got me, I was about to go to the store n buy me some talcum powder before i read up on it.
Nov 25, 2008 at 9:55 pm
to comments 3 & 4:
i think he wanted to see the game.
Nov 25, 2008 at 9:13 pm
Jamie lives in Oregon too - It’s cool to actually see someone I actually know in the commercial. Jamie has some big things going for her, and she’s only in 7th grade. I cannot believe how good she is.
She not only doesn’t play with the girls because of her skill level, she wants to play for the NBA. That’s right, not the WNBA.
Nov 25, 2008 at 7:53 pm
“I also want to shout out to the Cavaliers. My boy LeBron James is amazing, and the team’s been doing their thing so far. Also, when you watch the Cavaliers games please be sure not to get up during the commercials ’cause you will see me on the Nike LeBron commercial. Yes. It’s kind of funny because he does that little thing where he throws the dust up and it gets on me and my new shoes so I’m upset about it. You can’t miss it because it comes on every day—and about twenty times during each Cavs game.”

nice commercial, and ya lebron and weezy are bois
Nov 25, 2008 at 7:35 pm
Yup, I heard of her b4. I say let her play if she is good enough. Soon she wont be able to dominate boys like that. Its said a high school powerhouse boys team could beat a WNBA team. So until the unfair physical advantages kick in, let her enjoy dropping 50 points on the boys
Nov 25, 2008 at 6:59 pm
This commercial also has an appearance from JAIME NARED (0:40s - 0:42s). This was the 6 feet tall 12 year old GIRL that was kicked off her basketball team, where she played with boys, because she was too good.
If you haven’t heard about that story, google it.

Nov 25, 2008 at 6:20 pm
Notice how Lil wayne isn’t throwing that questionable white powder in the air in this one. Smart move. It seems they wised up. But notice they candyman in the instrumental. What candyman? Is he talking about ”Nose Candy”??? Hmmm, , nice try. The lawsuits will once again start pouring in.Good one Weezy!!! Almost fooled us again
