Posted by Matt Halfhill | Dec 29, 2008 The year is winding down and so is the numbered series of Air Jordans. For 2009, Jordan Brand is taking another step forward into the legacy of the man and the brand beginning with the Air Jordan 2009.
A few photos of the upcoming Air Jordan 2009 have been floating around the web, but none quite this clear. Like every pair of Air Jordans, the Jordan 2009 has a unique design to offer that separates it from the rest of the shoes in the market, but the cut away section in the middle of the foot has been a divider for many so far. What do you think of what you see? If there is anything consistent from year to year, its that the market tends to warm up to the new design as the release date approaches. Word from SoleBlvd is that these will drop on V-day. Dinner or kicks? (don’t let the lady decide for you) |

Just bought a pair today….
Awesome.
I saw them on the site here. Fell in love with them. Went to pick em up, wasn’t that impressed, started looking around… picked them up to make sure.. And just fell in love again.

I still don’t like how much these look like 14’s/team shoes…but I think this white/black might be an eye catcher from a far. All it’s going to take is a picture of His Airness wearing these in a pick up game…and they’ll catch. From a far, they actually kind of remind me of the “clean” Air Jordan 2 (white/black/red). Still not growing on me though.

the problem people have is that they are comparing them to the classics ala 1-14s. (which i can kinda understand) but you have to remember were in 2009. if you think about it, in 92-93′ you think the 8s were a normal shoe? heck no! lol you kidding me? that sneak was different and futureistic(?) in a way. here’s another thought that might enlighten a few people on the whole high heel look of the shoe…
the Lebron VI featured a cushioning system called “Double Stacked Zoom Air”. I’m sure that you all know what Zoom Air is and how it works so I won’t bother explaining it, but what made this version of it different was that there were two Zoom Air pad stacked on top of each other giving the VI ridiculous heel cushioning.
My guess for the Jordan 2009 is that it might have some kind of similar cushioning in the heel giving it that raised look. This version of the system will probably be much lighter than that of the Lebron since Lebrons are notoriously heavy.

here’s a thought…
would people like it if JB stopped making the best, most up-to-date basketball shoes, with some the world’s greatest athletes in mind, or strictly stick to, old, out-of-date shoes just because young cats and hypebeasts want to say “hey, look at my J’s”.
i think when it comes down to it, real shoe lovers realize the the core of Brand Jordan, is making high quality, safe and functional basketball shoes.

the front view is okay, the bottom is okay, the back is okay, the side…oh, hell no.
that heel is just too damn weird. if there was some amazing technological purpose, people may be able to swallow that, but it just looks stupid, gimmicky, and pointless. it seems like the shape of the heel would make it harder to explode…like the angle of the cut in the heel would make your foot more likely to sit down than push forward. if you turned the heel piece 180 degrees, that seems like it would work better, and look a helluva lot cooler.
also, the color and design is a little blah, boring, not enough color or detail. maybe if the side piece had more contrast, like red and black underneath the overlays.
long post, but thought i would offer more than “wack” and “pass” as a response.

These are not attractive at all. Maybe we need to see them in different colors but the overall style is just unattractive. Jordan and Nike feel they can come out with any style, explain how it has some kind of futuristic technology and we will buy it no matter what. I think it’s safe to say a majority of Jordan Buyers won’t use the shoe in an actual game. Some will but most will where them to sport the brand. I’m all for technology but it the style isn’t right then I won’t spend lots of money for a shoe. It just has to look right, these don’t! Jordan and Nike need to take a step back and return to the basics. Everyone goes crazy for the Retros…… because they looked good. It seems after 15 the shoe designs have just gotten worse and worse.

seen em on other sites, and they didn’t look good, but these pics are much clearer, and they actually look aight, I can see the 23’s in em a lil bit, but remeber how at one point all the j’s were ugly until u saw em in person, then they were the baddest show ever, I think these are ok

I like these, I wish my credit card was right, because these would be an early Bday present from me to me. The thing I love about Jordan Brand, is that they’re always a little ahead of their time, example these bad boyz. It’s the 21st century, and these fit in very well with the time we’re in. A Lot of folks might not be ready for the future, me including, but I get these.
