Dope or Nope: Gucci Colored Kicks

Watching trends in the sneaker industry is like being back in calculus class. Ups and downs are the only thing that is consistent. Lately, it’s been the “Gucci” colorway that is the craze. The green, red, green, is finding it’s way onto shoes made by Nike, Reebok, Fila and other suspects. Most recently Crooks & Castles and Vans teamed up for a couple of Gucci inspired sneakers. Some styles seem to stretch for years, across brands, and seem to always have followers. Nothing has been as consistently popular as elephant print from Nike, it has been a staple in the shoe game for years, but the “Gucci” releases seem to keep coming with no end in sight. So is the “Gucci” fad the next elephant print? Take a stroll through some “Gucci” colored kicks and tell us if you think the idea is “Dope! or Nope!” after you see the list. |

| The UNDR CRWN x Adidas TS Commander showed up last month in an obvious Gucci inspired colorway. The ankle strap received the classic green/red/green coloring that became synonymous with the Gucci Brand. With so much red and green on the shoe it has quite the Christmas feel. |

only feeling the dunk SB, P-rod and maybe the AF2 but I have to see them all in person in order to decide
the only pair I’ve seen in person is the dunk SB, and the denim material is really nice

Jay-Z’s Reebok kicks, the S. Carter line, reached deep into the creativity bag in hopes of finding something to save the now defunct line, they came out holding a pair of these Gucci inspired S. Carter’s. In the biggest Gucci bite of all, these S.Carter’s not only used the Gucci colored laces, but also took the entire silhouette from Gucci in hopes to save the line. Apparently it didn’t work out too well.
This information is simply wrong. RESEARCH!

Yo, ain’t none of these gettin’ it. If you can’t afford Gucci sneakers, coppin’ these jokers with the green/red/green colorway isn’t going to do anything either. Someone else already said it though; if it’s not a collab between the shoe company and the original designer, then it ain’t worth it. I bet you those on the Gucci end would consider these fakes and might have a good argument.

If you want a clean look on a budget, cop a pair of white on white air force lows and lace them with the gucci laces. I do it every summer and get nothing but compliments. Karmaloop sells the laces

the Nike Dunks are dope, but those Adidas should have stayed in someone’s closet. honestly, it doesn’t hurt to see the trademark colorway on a pair of hot kicks. it all depends on what kicks you put them on though.

overall, biting off gucci is not too cool. of course, here and there you will get some one who does an interesting take on it though. i like the crooks and castles joint. and i think you guys at nice kicks have your facts a little backwards. the gucci s dots were the first release in the first line of s. carter kicks which led to an s.carter II and a few basketball kicks. they even had a signature shoe for the kid on the knicks

I am kind of done with this Gucci inspiration… Like I’m not trying to knock it or anything… there has been some good Gucci inspired sneakers but let’s be serious you can’t tell me that it’s not getting played out…
What happens when ppl keep dropping Gucci inspired sneakers I’m pretty sure there will be a lot more misses than hits…
(There is no more originality… I bet you we will see three more “Gucci” inspired sneakers within the next cpl months)

the only place we should see gucci colors is on gucci sneakers or clothes, same with louie v or any other high end designers, the only way i am down with this is if the shoe is a collaboration between the designers and the shoe company, other than that this is pretty lame
