Lil Wayne x Gatorade Commercial
Posted by Nick Engvall | Jan 5, 2009|
Who would ever think that one day Lil Wayne would follow in the foot steps of Michael Jordan…Weezy snuck his way into the Nike LeBron Chalk Commercial earlier this year but made his way into a Gatorade showcasing some of the top Gatorade athletes. Watch for Via Kanye West. |

“Please dont let your STANHOOD affect your MANHOOD!”
Man, IKON Radio, that’s baller! hahahahaha
For real, you Pep Boys that are on Wayne like flies on feces, recognize–Wayne’s only got so many years in his prime. He’s not Superman. The way the guy lives, he’ll be lucky to see 35, so yes, I DOUBT his earning power for future years, largely because he’s not making moves to sustain his brand for the long-term future.
Jay is an icon and his talent is more than just being “the best”–no one has done what he’s done. He’s the epitome of a superstar and maybe rap/hip hop’s only star with worldwide appeal in the guise of Michael Jackson or Madonna, this side of Run DMC. The Wayneheads (shout out to Damon Wayans) are probably disillusioned by his ubiquity and his “unique” flow and all that jazz, but he’s not necessarily growing as an artist or particularly saying ANYTHING relevant.
As for the commercial, it’s brilliantly made and all of the females are beautiful (Candace looks awfully like Beyonce in the face and Misty May is “;)”.)
Holla!

Lil Wayne is quite possibly the worst mainstream rapper. I don’t understand why everyone is so high on him. Real Hip-Hop fans hate him.

shout out to the jabbawokeez!

The majority of J’s money is coming from clothes and production interests. He just had to put a major luxury hotel in NYC put on hold. My point is you CAN’T compare these two right now. They are not in the same ballpark…they aren’t even playing the same sport! #7 and #10 are correct. In a way Wayne has ruined hip-hop. He puts out pop-music not rap! There are 12 year-old white girls from the suburbs buying his sh!t Comparing sound-scan #’s is fu@ked because of that! Wayne is rich but will NEVER obtain J’s wealth.
Jan 5, 2009 at 4:11 pm
I’ve already seen this new Gatorade and Matt def was joking when he said it would be sold in a styrofoam cup just makin a joke about lil Wayne in his videos but I thought it was mad funny and the “G” is just basically the new name for Gatorade…..I saw it at Wal-Mart the other day. Oh and Lil Wayne can’t speak for sh@t they def edit his voice cause I seen an interview where you couldn’t here notin he was sayin LOL but much respect to him
Jan 5, 2009 at 3:21 pm
HOLD UP!
I’ve seen this commercial MANY TIMES and it’s actually Wayne on the actual commercial and this is NOT a “voice over” for YouTube?
WOW!
When will these businesses learn about the word “OVERKILL?!”
Seriously, I’m sick of Lil Wayne flooding EVERY SINGLE MARKET!
Enough apparently isn’t “enough” for some.
Jan 5, 2009 at 3:08 pm
lil wayne do got a ugly ass voice. lol. he sound like he just ate 2 packs of doral cigarettes while they were lit.
Jan 5, 2009 at 3:04 pm
I’m not saying Wayne is making more money than jay-z right now. Lil Wayne made like 13 million in 08′ forbes said, but I’m talking bout the potential money I see lil wayne making, and he right now he is the biggest thing in hip hop, every album he comes out with will go platnium atleast. He’ll start f*cking with the right business people and really get his money up forreal for now baby holdin him back, but I think lil Wayne will be up there in finacial jay-z wealth if he play his cards right.
Jan 5, 2009 at 2:54 pm
to #14 - lmao!
i think this commercial had some potential but lil waynes ugly ass voice kills it..
Jan 5, 2009 at 2:49 pm
wikipedia is information put by the general public. i could add info on that site if i wanted so give me more sources. and C3 may have done well for the time it has been out but still not toping any of jays albums for that matter. and you are right it took two releases for reasonable to go multi plat (he was to advanced for 96). btw YUNG are you kidding me?? at least john doe is throwing out some type of facts…lol. and not to mention the upset releases that couldnt top tha block is hot. John doe you sound like a pretty smart guy wanye making more bread than J cmon??
Jan 5, 2009 at 2:07 pm
# 10, u right on most of ur facts, but as 4 the carter3 not topping reasonable doubt in album sales, after resonable doubt was rereleased a 2nd time some time in the early 2000’s just cause of it lack luster album sales when it orignally came out still to this date on wikipedia says it’s only 1 time platnium!!!!! Look up the carter3 #s, cause it went multi platnium, just like the blueprint. So make sure all ur facts are straight cause I do!!!!
Jan 5, 2009 at 2:05 pm
ummm carter 3 already sold 2.88 mill copies, which isw more than both blueprint and reasonable doubt did, and it hasnt been out for 1 year yet… dont get me wrong, i hate the new purped out, cross eyed, hype following wayne… but i still give him his props, and i believe he is being overexposed and just like the macarana, his gonna disaappear in 2 years
but on topic, this commercial would have been twenty times better with someone who actually has to do with sports voice, like MJ, wayne ruins the whole thing for me.
Jan 5, 2009 at 1:46 pm
i guess none of you guys have soul!!! u hope everybody realize who the 2 guys in the beginning of the commercial with their fists raised high, are!!!!! if you do not, refer back to the 1968 olympics medal stand, and what that meant!!!
Jan 5, 2009 at 1:38 pm
have no fear #10 is here. First off #13 may want to do his research because jay-z is definitely worth more than diddy and wayne. in 2008 alone he grossed more than them put together. Check your local forbes list. Before we talk money we already have clarified that the talent level is no where near equivalent. And you speak album sales little waynes album sales up until recently (carter III) hasnt touched any of jays album #’s. and carter 3 still doesnt top reasonable or blueprint. and money making it may seem to the general public wayne is making more because you see him in the public eye. the thing is he is using his hype to gain money hype always dies. This is when you rely on investing strategies what J is doing building a portfolio. Silently collecting checks. public eye doesn’t suit jay anymore he’s more the warren buffet type now.
Jan 5, 2009 at 1:32 pm
EPIC FAIL.
Weezy can’t even spell (much less, pronounce) half the words he tried mumble in this commercial.
-1 to Gatorade for falling victim to hype
Jan 5, 2009 at 12:59 pm
Womp i guess #7 & !0 didn’t expect john doe to commetn back but he has a very valid point, & i dont like wezzy but hes str8 hype beast, from rap, to r&b to rock hes every where, shoe deals, drink deals, albums are sellin’… like he said wherther you like heim or not & jigga isn’t close to makin’ a bill, idk if hes even scratchin’ half amil especially since diddy is still worth more than he is & he isnt touchin half a mill…
Jan 5, 2009 at 12:44 pm
STUPID commercial and i HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE HATE “WEEZY”
hu haaa
Jan 5, 2009 at 12:43 pm
#7 and #10 I can compare who ever I want and it looks like its no comparison between lil wayne and jay-z. Lil wayne 26 y.o. and got more albums at this age than when Jay-z came out with his first album at 25 y.o. just getting started in the game!!!!!! And just rercently in his 30’s started making money. Lil been seeing money since how old? Just imagine when lil wayne is in his 30’s. 5 10 years from now, he’ll have just as much money, more investments and whatever he wants. Like u said coporate america loves him, y’all said it yallself, so u make what I said have merrit. He’ll open up a club equilvalent to the 40/40 and it’ll prolly make more money cause he’ll do it for the white people, not for us black people who hate on our own #7 and #10. I only compared them business wise. He’s only 26!!!!!! With the potential to make more money than anybody in the game. I never compared them lyriacally, so read what I wrote, and #7 I go to bergen cc whenever u wanna visit I don’t web talk.
Jan 5, 2009 at 12:14 pm
wayne is highly over-rated. please keep the jay-z comparisons to your self; that is very disrespectful to an artist who actually brings meaning to a track. as far as this commercial, i agree “corporate america” is trying to use this guy to boost sales for our demographic. and judging by the hypebeasts who commented it’s working.
Jan 5, 2009 at 11:55 am
Lol at “corporate america” still cramming weezy down our throats.
Jan 5, 2009 at 11:55 am
kids…..
anyways, it seems the people in gatorade are on crack also
Jan 5, 2009 at 11:02 am
Lil wayne will be the next jay-z whether u like him or not, he’s a money making machine, album sales, deals with at&t, and so much more.
Comment by john doe — January 5, 2009 @ 10:30 am
are you smoking crack, hit your head, or all of the above???? lil’wayne will never be the next jay-z, Jay is nearly worth a billion dollars and wayne is still under baby which means baby is still jerking him for his cash so it won’t happen and lyric wise lil wayne will never be as lyrical as hova because on dr. carter jay-z bodied him on his own track
Jan 5, 2009 at 10:58 am
i believe he was joking when he said that G would be sold in styrofoam cups mixed with an alcoholic beverage. i think that was just a reference to lil wayne.. god.. why lil wayne? of all people.
Jan 5, 2009 at 10:57 am
IF THE GUY WHO STARTED GATORADE WAS STILL ALIVE, HE WOULD NOT SUPPORT THIS AT ALL!!
Jan 5, 2009 at 10:45 am
Hmm, not a bad commercial, I dug the athletes in it, but to put alcohol in Gatorade… I am not down with that! NO THANKS
Jan 5, 2009 at 10:33 am
Boo this commercial sucks!!!
Jan 5, 2009 at 10:32 am
WTF!! THIS S HORRIBLE!!! dont put this trash commercial on air!! You don’t even know the product they are sponsoring but I red the subject title!! THIS SUCKS!!!!! BOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!
Jan 5, 2009 at 10:30 am
