Mita x New Balance MT580 Gore-Tex
Posted by Nick Engvall | Jan 6, 2009 If our 9 Sneakers to look forward in 09 was a slightly larger list, the Mita x New Balance Gore-Tex would have surely been on it. When we first got a glimpse of these kicks in November, we instantly wanted to see more.
The three bright color choices couldn’t be better to represent those outdoor jackets that hit their high point of popularity back in the late 80’s and early 90’s. Yellow, teal and purple colorways made of Gore-tex material to keep your feet nice and dry, and a little sheltered on those windy days as well. A little bit of 3M accenting complete the package. These will release in the US, but are available now at Mita. |

*phew!* Thank the heavens these are dropping in the US. I just realized if I get them from Mita, I’ll be dropping $200 USD. Hope that’s not the case when they drop here. *lol*

also what are the 580s like performance-wise? I need a pair of running shoes, but I’ve got arches flatter than most pancakes and overpronate severely so motion control is necessary. it would be cool if I could get a pair of performance runners that look good too, but that can be hard

Matt,
If you do score a pair for testing, post it here so I’ll read about it. Im currently running on the Zoom Victory Wht/Red cos I wasnt drawn to the Lunar Trainer’s neon cw. Sorry. I’ve always believed that if you look good, you play good. =)
(and my shoe size is 9.5 but im in the Philippines. Sad.)

John,
I really like New Balance as a company overall because of their commitment to quality as well as being the only company still producing some of their shoes in the USA.
I have been a sucker for the MT580 for such a long time because of how comfortable they are as well as their stability. I am nuts for the 850 for the aesthetic right now since I don’t have a pair, but knowing NB, they will be just as comfortable as anything they put out.
I like Lunar Lite, but I haven’t had the chance to test out full length Lunar cushioning like what’s in the Lunar Trainer (Nike, you know my shoe size and mailing address….)

Hey Matt,
It seems like you’re really drawn to th 580 / 850’s.
I guess you’re in this heat for the performance? Or is it over-all value?
Not bad. If youre really into the running game, I guess NB and Asics do their thing. I used to own a pair of Asics that did their job in supporting me for my daily jog.
I guess the Lunar Lite is overhyped in your book?
