Airwalk Prototypes

Airwalk PrototypesWhen Bill Mann, the founder of Airwalk, left the company in the mid 90’s, Airwalk decided to go more “mainstream”. The company was then sold, and found its way into the hands of Payless Shoes parent company years later. Since we’ve all heard that things always come full circle, I guess the fact that these Airwalk Prototypes are going to be limited, is the epitome of that.

The Hundreds just received their shipment of Prototypes, a silhouette that returns from its late 80’s origins in some classic colorways. Only 144 pairs of each colorway are available, so if these bring back memories like they do for me, you’ll wanna cop them quick.

Will limited numbers and throwbacks be enough for jeffstaple to bring this company back from the depths of the clearance rack store that Payless Shoes has become?

Decide by checking out the colorways after the jump.

these arent the prototypes the prototypes are alot different

  7. BKost

This really isn’t an af1 copy tho, I mean yeah, it has similar perforations, and if you combined the two pieces on the toe it would be very similar, but they aren’t combined, so at most you can say it takes a few cues from the af1.

“@jerseycitystandup Yo kid, you *do* realize these shoes were designed looong before AF1, right? So as for not being original…”

Learn 2 read. This shoe was designed in the late 80s. AF1 was designed in 82.

  9. NUCLEUS.ONE

What happened to releasing them at Payless stores at a reasonable price?

  10. greenmaker24

    idk not too bad

  11. Retro3

    BTW

  12. Retro3

@ #6 Im not sure if these were designed “Looong” before AF1s. AF1s are from the early 80s gee.

  13. Hat Junkies

Airwalk needs to crawl back to their hole

  14. Bkfreshkickz89

I’m really feeling the red/black colorway. To bad they’re stupid limited.I hate the hundreds. One of the worse clothing lines. They would go out of business if they didn’t have all the hypebeast pinoys wearing it.Who the f*ck wears a little bomb?

    FUGLY..

  16. brennan

i couldn’t begin to tell you how many pair of these i had back in the early 90s. Airwalks from back then were/are gold. The lacesavers they created will be etched in my memory forever. You can’t beat retro airwalks. I’d like to see them do a re-drop…. across-the-board

  17. d_stroy

#12 tk isnt from philly duke!!! he’s from LB (LONG BEACH,CA), and out here, skateboarders be bangin on cats like you!!!lol and by the way, recycling!?!?!man i bet your a nike supporter and sport all the retro stuff right?…thats recycled idiot!!!get outta here with that sh!t

  18. I DO-IT_SO_BETTER!!!!

We taking this 80s retro sh*t too far some things should be left in the past these we for dirty ass skateboarders and bike riders I remember cuz my cousins use to whoop they ass and take they bikes and break they boards thats when NY was rough!!! Now its soft as hell up there yeah there are some animals but not like it was in the 80’s and early 90s!!! Now skateboarding and biking is cool and now considered urban wow!!! TK wouldve got his ass kicked in the Bronx in the 80s and yeah I know he from Philly!! Stop bring back this BS and trying to pass it off as cool designers need to start being more creative and some reycling Recyling is only for trash but if the shoe fits do you!!!!

  19. MJSF

  24. Nolish

@jerseycitystandup Yo kid, you *do* realize these shoes were designed looong before AF1, right? So as for not being original…

  25. Soupasam

Those look like something a doctor would prescribe.

  26. Brimfield

Good to see Airwalk coming back strong. They’ve releases Vic’s, whatever style their mold-breaking thing was for, and looks like they’ve assembled a decent team for ‘09. Now if they would just get rid of the ‘croc’s’ bs…

  27. jerseycitystandup

NO! NO! NO! NO! NO!………stop copying air force 1 toes, it’s not cool or original

  28. his airness

    Already seen these… not impressed!!
