Lakai Telford Japan Edition Colorways

Lakai Telford Japan Edition Colorways In this their 10th year anniversary Lakai has recently branched out into new markets, like Japan, and has a number of releases on the horizon. The Lakai Telford Japan Edition comes in two colorways and is available now at Mita.

Lakai adds some perforations to this fresh silhouette, which seems to make it even more appealing then previous releases. The first colorway features the colors of the Japanese flag, a simple white with red accents on top of a black midsole. The second colorway is simple as well, white with gold accents make for a nice color combo. The offsetting gold stitchwork gives it a unique look compared to many white high tops.

These limited kicks will set you back about $100.

Lakai has been making the Telford model for at least three years, maybe longer. The Nike Dunk high tops, on the other hand, had been out of production since the 80’s, maybe early 90’s, and were only brought back in the past two years. Even in the 1980s Nike wasn’t the only company making high tops, Converse, Puma, Rebok, etc all had some form of high top, I suppose if you wanted to play this game you could say that Nike ripped off Converse since Converse came out with the Chuck Taylor in 1917 and the one stars in the early 70’s. All that the skate shoe companies were doing was filling a gap in the market, until Nike decided that there was money to be made by following the retro trend and started reproducing their old Dunk models.
Even to this day the majority of Nike skate shoes are sold to sneakerheads, the only difference is that they are sold in skateboard shops instead of Footlocker. There are some skate shoes that are garbage, I’ve bought a few myself, the difference being that they cost me a lot less then Nikes, which are really nothing special for what they cost. In one respect the skate shoe companies are still filling a gap in the market, there is a market out there for skaters (or anyone) who may like retro styling but will never accept wearing Nike or anything made by them.

payless shoe source is correct, i purchased the telfords in a diff. colorway and the stitching was horrible, off, the material was off. the sole was even off. i mean if your going to release a shoe to the public make sure the stitching is on point and stays strong, the sole is colored the way it should be, and the material isnt Sh*t.

  5. twist

i mean, yeah, they do look like dunks but..Its not like this shoe just came out, i had some 3yrs ago, and lakai’s been out forever. its like complainin at bape for copying af1

DUNKS were the inspiration for the AJ1 so I believe DUNKS were around before these P.O.S. shoes

  17. jsrgreat

^Chad you took the words out of my mouth, i feel like im looking at a fake pair of jordan 1’s

  18. KRIS

    these shoes is super boring

  19. Chad

if u ask me the red one reminds me more of an aj1 than a dunk

  20. hotboy16

Ummmm, #7, this company has only been around for 10 years. If u did YOUR research, the 1st NIKE DUNK was released in ‘85. So its easy for people to see da similarities in da shoes. NIKE was 1st, so anythin’ that comes close 2 that design is gonna be referred to as a knock-off DUNK. Same thing wit any other shoe or shoe company.

  21. E-MAN

    AWESOME!!! new nike dun….oh
