Recently, we have seen many Nike hybrids such as the Air 1/2 Cent, the Air Force 180 Hybrid and the Air Tech Challenge Hybrid. In addition, Jordan Brand will try its hybrid hand at an upcoming sneaker dubbed the Air Jordan 16.5. Although this particular hybrid draws inspirations from both the Air Jordan XVI and the Air Jordan XVII, it seems to take more detail from the XVII. For example, the Air Jordan 16.5 possesses the double row of laceholders as well as a similar model shape of the Air Jordan XVI. However, it does own the patent leather toe box and midsole of the Air Jordan XVII. If you recall, the Air Jordan XVI OG release featured the exact same colorway as this Air Jordan 16.5. Other interesting details include the chrome-like outsole and the word “Jordan” on the midsole heel in braille. The Air Jordan 16.5 is set to release in November 2009. These are sick !! Im coppin these because I like the OG Air Jordan 16 and these look similiar to the regular 16 so when the 16.5 (in the Blk/red colorway only) come out I will have no trouble getting these since everyone is going for the 12’s and the Space Jam 11.

These are by far the BEST Jordan .5/Hybrid/Fusion/”Mixer” design to date. And while lately I’ve been disappointed by Jordan Brand’s lack/lost of original + innovative design inspiration (Tinker being the exception, of course), this design should be commended for seamless blending the best of the XVI and the XVII. In my humble but true opinion, this 16.5 tops the both shoes from which it was created in terms of aesthetics.
p.s. - Most of you guys need to embrace the concept of independent thinking!

Always Jordan has done it again. the only problem I have, when i played in the 16’s with the shroud(LACES HAD A COVER LIKE A CONSTRUTION BOOTS) The shoe was bueatiful, but the sole SUCKS, no grip, after indoor use, then wearing with outfits. HOPE THESE HAVE A BETTER SOLE!

If they would’ve thrown the patent all the way around these joints (especially where the mesh is) or change it to leather, these would be better than the original 16’s. Man, if they drop a Flint or Cherrywood color for these, I hope to heck they fastrack them and drop em in the summer… Thumbs up. A Jordan “Fusion” that people actually like.

i just can’t believe the 12.5’s though..material wasn’t nice, design didn’t do justice. I bet a lot of jordanheads would’ve incorproated more of the good details for the 12 and 13. But come to think of it, infusing both designs form both shoes (12/13) is kinda hard since they are far from each other (design wise) .This one (16.5) hit the spot! Looks really really good! Must cop these! im curious about the 4.5 and 6.5 though haha!

wow these are actually pretty hot. i didnt really like any of the .5’s jordan put out but these are pretty dope. i was a big fan of the 16s and 17s and the way the put them together in this one looks nearly seemless. i wud def cop and rock on the court. for the right price of course.

the double row lace holes were from the XVII and the patent leather toe box was from the XVI.

These are definitely on my “to cop” list but there is one glaring question that must be answred. Will these have some sort of shroud/gaiter being that both shoes being compiled here were accompanied by such. Believe it or not, that would be a major selling point for me on these. Guess we’ll have to wait and see.

these shoes look good, better than the other .5s by a helluvalot! They resemble the 16s a lot too. The 16s were really pretty shoes when you first got ‘em, but they deteriorated rapidly when you wore them. I think da 16s were nice to look at but suffered from being made with substandard quality. My navy blue and white 16s soles cracked in the middle after a couple weeks. Hope the quality issues are fixed now, otherwise what’s the point…
