Kicks On Court: Honoring Michael Jordan

Kicks On Court: Honoring Michael JordanAfter the response we got from the David Robinson and John Stockton posts, we know you’ve been waiting on this one, Kicks On Court honors Michael Jordan, and his legendary career, with a look at some of his greatest moments.

The memories are endless, so we did our best to narrow it down to our favorites. “His Airness” is simply beyond what all writers, announcers and sports broadcasters could ever describe with words. Even now thinking about the many moments leaves me in awe, and grateful for the multiple times I saw him play in person. Without him, where would all of us be as sneakerheads?

Congrats to Michael on the great accomplishment of being inducted into the Hall Of Fame. Thank you for the memories, past, present and future.

Let us know what your favorite Jordan memory is in the comment section.

Michael Jordans’ “flu” game was in the 1997 NBA Finals game 5, not 1998 :)

i wasnt fortunate enough to see Jordan play cuz i was born in 89 so growing up i didnt get the full blow of jordan till he was retired. But watching his videos on youtube and footage from games i am just happy i can see highlights but id have to say my favorite 3 moments which are:
1.) The baseline dunk on ewing in 91′ (when starks and oakly forced him to the sideline but he drove back baseline anyways)

2.) When he drove to the basket in 91′ i think and he was playing the New Jersey Nets and he jumps from the left block and goes between 2 defenders and does a reverse layup on the other side of the basket and didnt touch 1 person. thats just INCREDIBLE hang time i mean its freaky. and what made it so funny was if you watch one of the players on the nets bench jumps in his seat like “damn did u just see tha!t”

3.) My third is in 98′ and when he is playing the jazz game 6. seconds left and john stockton clears out for carl malone and jordan doubles back to steal the ball from the blind side. and he waits till there is 6.6 seconds left on the clock (kinda ironic aint it? game 6, 6th ring, 6.6 on the clock) and he crosses over brian russel gives him the push and hits the game winner ALL NET.

and a extra one is when he had th FLU in the 97′ playoffs and he went to utah where the air is thin and crowd is rowdy and scored 38 points and went on to win the game. TRUE WARRIOR.

Props to my man John Starks, the best defender of MJ.

my favorite jordan memory is afta he retired the first time n the bulls were gearing up for the playoffs and it wus a brief glimce at scottie pipen hold up his leg showin the sole of the jordan 10 tryin to lure mj to come back

  11. kmoney

look at bill walton in the background of the last picture pg. 11
    classic expression hahaha

  12. Mike

I don’t know what my favorite moment is, but my least favorite was when Jordan hit the 3 against the Blazers in the Finals and shrugged his shoulders as Uncle Cliffy could just look on. I respect Jordan, but that caused a little fire of hatred for him.

Jordan was certainly the greatest player in the history of the sport, but why couldn’t he have had an strained ankle during those Finals.

  13. airon0828

the switch of hands layup vs the lakers and the final shot vs utah are what pops in my mind for mj

  14. Big Joe

dude the lakers “shot” was in 1991… srsly.

  15. flash_ready3

G.O.A.T he is the man. all hail ———His Airness—— Gave us the greastest moments and arguably the greastest kicks of all time. moment in my time was the shot against utah. A jumper that went in against byron russell.

  16. triple

can you imagine how lame the shoe game would be if Jordan had stayed with converse ?

I loved the way Michael Jordan was so influential and such a great role model. Looking back over the years, it makes me smile to think about all of the cool Michael Jordan memorabilia that my brothers had! Everyone in our house was just so blown away at the level of skill and talent he had on the court. I hope that the next generation will have someone to look up to like that. We all just have to make sure we keep the Jordan legend alive!

  18. crl

My favorite memory was seeing his mother on tv and her talking about how she raised him. She raised him to be disciplined and balanced in life. He is such an inspiration to so many!

  19. alewin

One of my favorite memories was- I think it was a slam dunk contest (it was probably more than one occurrence) when Michael Jordan would stick his tongue way out when he was up in the air about to slam it!

  20. SB

Michael Jordan VS Reggie Miller (in the playoffs) I think I speak for everyone when I say this..Remember when Reggie pushed Jordan (no foul) and the refs didn’t call a foul and he hit that 3 pointer. But, then again Reggie Miller and MJ it was always a good match..But, in the END Jordan has 6 Rings and Reggie has NADA!

  21. Sacsmosthated

If I am not mistaken, he also won defensive player of the year once right?? That’s gangsta!

  22. Flatsole

Best dressed on the court? Michael Jordan

Worst dressed off the court? Michael Jordan

Mike, add the following things to your grocery list, and along with a rigorous training regimen and rest, you will be ready to return to the league by 2011.

First, drop the cigars, liquor, and partying. Save those for your 60’s when you retire for the 3rd time.
No gatorade. Sugar consumption has to go way down. You have to eat less, WAY less than I’m sure you already do. Honestly, you have to literally fast or eat nothing but berries and broccoli all day maybe 2 days a week. Calories go down to the point where you’re thinking about food all the time and feel like you’re starving. You won’t die. Your body will feel weak and first but then you will get STRONG. It will take time. Eventually you’ll be able to take half a multivitamin, scarf some broccoli and spinach with some kidney beans and a chunk of salmon, drink some green tea, and you’ll be rock solid all day. That’s just the tip of the iceberg…

If you are very serious about playing again and I mean SERIOUS it is possible for you to turn back the clock to at least your mid 30’s, but it will take a ton of effort to undo the damage the years (and you) have done. Hope somehow you actually read this. Good luck.

  29. sneakerfan93

The Best of all time….it was funny when Jordan said he didn’t want to be in the Hall of Fame and wanted to play again.BTW he would still be better than a decent amount of players in the league(probably 20%).But Im not sure if he can keep up with the pratices

  30. 3starsNaSun
