Kanye’s designed Louis Vuitton sneakers are about to hit LV stores soon. The shoes have been arriving in select locations for “meet and greets” if you will. The Kanye West x Louis Vuitton Sneakers feature a healthy dose of pastel (Pastelle?) colors mixed into sophisticated silhouettes. The level of quality is obviously top notch, but really there is one question that many people have. Will these kicks, and the price tag associated with them, take the sneaker game from its adolescent state into adulthood? Being a little older now it’s funny to hear things like “True Sneakerhead”. The phrase is baseless and carries no merit. The word true as it relates to sneakers means conformable to a particular standard or pattern.
Basically the only truth that one adheres to is that of their own preference or style. If you like this particular shoe there is a possibility that you like the Yeezy as well because that is your ‘Truth”. You like the eclectic patterns that go against the conventional.
Just as I am a Jordan fan and collector and have been since the 80’s. I buy them because that is my truth. I know the history and I am aware of the standard that has been set by the brand long before there were rappers talking about them in their videos.
The only “True Sneakerheads”, (if there is such a thing) are those that are true to themselves and their sense of style and don’t get drawn in or pushed away by hype or lack thereof.
Do you. Everything else is irrelevant.

I concur w/ 666. Dropping ‘x’ amount of dollars on sneakers doesn’t make you any more a “true sneakerhead” than the next one. Buy what the hell you want because YOU love them; Regardless if you ride the wave of ‘hype’ to fit in or do genuinely like them. Regardless of the brand on the tongue and side of the sneaker. Sheesh! This is what I dont understand about the politics of “sneakerheads.”
Because of the internet, and blog site’s it has become more than love for the way a sneaker is designed, what materials are selected and the story behind the design. Thats what I fell in love with all those years ago and thats why I made a career out of designing shoes. Paying over $1000 for a pair of shoes just for the sake of “having something no one else will have” is completely dumb. First of all, these shoes will be pushing more units probably than the Yeezy’s. History has shown with LV’s footwear that they normally over run production. And these are no different. It’s just sad to think that people say “you arent a real sneakerhead unless you drop so much on a piar of shoes.” give me a break bro, get off your high horse and realize you dont have to be rich to love footwear or be into this culture. The sh*t started with $20-$30 dollar shoes in the 70’s man, thats love. No matter how much it is, if you love a design it doesn’t matter

i feel the material is great the design in the toe area is to low budget and the heal tab concept ,i think is the best part along with the laceing. but the straps stop it the damn sole is queer hot pink and the price is outlandish i would rather purchase a pair of signed og mike’s on ebay upperdeck certified of course.or a key of yolla holla.

There seems to be another love/hate shoe right here i have to agree kanye can only go so far with his shoe designs and it seems good things have its bad timings too these shoes hitting while alot of us are going through recession moreover its worst with us sneakerheads righh? i think these shoes are pretty okay considering the louie vuttion’s nice material and quality but i prefer the low top version over the high but even if i could afford the price tag i wouldve spent the money esle where you feeling me ?

I have been to the factory outside of Shenzhen, China and have seen first hand LV, Cole, Diesel, and various other shoes made. And how they are treated and have even been to the material factory that LV sources from.
I made no references to anything supply and demand related, rather I pointed out the actual cost to build the outsole, and assemble a shoe. A quite bit different, so I may say to you that you should not try and call out people in which you do not know.

there’s nothing “adult” about paying that much for shoes.
those things cost no more than $25 for assembly. The most expensive part of making this shoe was the last they made, and the mold for the outsole. Which was anywhere from $10k-$15k to make.
Louis Vuitton needs to be exposed for duping consumers into the whole “made in paris” tag thats sewn in by Chinese factory workers. (Yes, its true, they are made at the same factory as Cole Haan and Diesel’s shoe line in China)
