Michael Jordan’s “The Shot” 20 Years Later
Posted by Matt Halfhill | May 7, 2009 With the best-of-five first round series tied 2-2, Michael Jordan took charge of the Bulls in the final seconds of Game 5 when Chicago trailed the Cleveland Cavaliers by a point. Michael Jordan hit a jumper with 0:06 left to put his team in good position to win the series. On the Cav’s next possession, Craig Ehlo scored a go ahead bucket with only three ticks left on the game clock which looked to be their ticket to the next round.
With only seconds left, Michael Jordan caught an inbound pass and put up “The Shot”. With time expiring while the ball was in the air, the shot came down through the hoop and took the Bulls to the next round. It was 20 years ago today that in this defining moment Michael Jordan pulled off the unimaginable. And the sneakers he wore while doing this? None other than the Air Jordan 4 Black/Red. Michael, thanks again for all the memories. |

HAHA, Ehlo was getting worked by MJ all game, he really should’ve been subbed out for someone who could gaurd him better. I love how it looks like someone shot him in the back when MJ hit the shot. Priceless.

he just hit a shot c’mon now just because it’s michael jordan get with the present peoples theres plenty spectacular plays that happened in NBA history but thats old just because he wore the Jordan 4’s?.. I know if somebody else did that same shot in some payless shoes they wouldn’t get a thing

This is one of the reasons why he is in the hall of fame. This man is the truth stop comparing lebron or Kobe to MIKE!! They won’t never be able to accomplish what he did. I love Kobe but Kobe lost in the finals twice, lebron lost in the finals, Jordan NEVER lost in the finals!!! 6-0

man i was just a baby when this jumped off but my moms and uncle recorded just about all of michaels games so i caught and in short …..

Jordan, the best that ever did it… I watch DVD footage of his memorable moments (like this one), and honestly get a little misty-eyed… Joke\hate all you want on it, but I love basketball and sports so much that the game means a bit more to me when you get a chance to see the greats on TV or in person.

Anyway, this was one of the best moments that MJ had. I said it before and I will say it again, for those who think people who are successful never fail, take a look at MJ. He has numerous failures and missteps but he kept trying and learning from them AND he never gave up.
Who else would do what he did at that moment? He took a chance, an educated, trained risk, and won. You don’t always win when you take a chance, but with practice, training and a nack for not being afraid to fail, you can succeed far beyond what others do
This is why I love MJ and why I buy his sneakers. Its more than a man, its a vision and a wiliness to try, fail, and try again until you are successful.

one of my favorite sports memories of all time…only thing that doesn’t put it on top is the horrible call by the play-by-play man…can you give us a little more excitement and enthusiasm with that call…some play-by-play and color analysts are just too robotic and lack emotion even if it wasn’t your team that just won

I’m not being boastful or nothin, but I’m paid and I have a great career. I’ve never been jealous a day in my life except for 1 day - the first time a saw a dude in school (many years ago) with the bred Jordan 4 pictured above. That’s my absolute favourite shoe of all time hands down and I got 3 of ‘em today plus the Mars Blackmon and Lightning. Even when I see people wearing these now I get upset if I’m not wearing mine, cuz these shoes are soo fly. Best Jordan shoe/colour combo ever IMO!
