Throwback Thursday: Nike Air Flight Lite

Late last year, Nike reached way back into the vault and reintroduced the Nike Air Flight Lite in a number of solid colorways. Two original colorups were released, but left this one, White/Sapphire-Citrus for vintage heads to cherish. While many may fiend for the uber-high top cut of the Flight Lites, overlooking the history of this shoe would be nothing short of a tragedy. Last year, only months before the re-release of the Nike Air Flight Lites, came the Nike Hyperdunk which was the lightest Nike basketball shoe ever (later outdone by the Kobe IV). When released in 1991, the Nike Air Flight Lite was the lightest Nike basketball shoe despite the many ounces of weight that went to the high cut and inside boot. Scottie Pippen is often associated with the Nike Air Flight Lite, but in many promotional materials and commercials, NY Knicks’ Gerald Wilkins was the face of the revolutionary shoe. The pair from the Nice Kicks collection is far from deadstock condition, but thanks to Nike’s choice of a soft Phylon midsole foam, many original pairs from 1991 are still wearable. love air flight lites they extremely comfortable! i have the black & purple joints but im gonna cop the black & white joints as well good sneaker

Ive got the re-realse Black swade with purple guts right now as i am typing this, it’s beutiful, i know i am going to have to buy the white ones with the green guts, just so the ones i got now wont be lonely, lol! I don’t even wear white sneaks, lol!

the white & citrons are the best colorway.. but tha flight lite is timeless!!! i remember throwin these down wit tha crazy thick slouch socks & crosscolors back in 91….

I had these back in the day, it was my school colors…I cop’d a pair of the white/varsity red-black a while back…super comfortable shoes. Makes me feel like a kid again wearing them.

The nike outlet by my place had the chicago cw and black&purple kicks for 60 bux each; went with the chicago pair. They are incredibly light and have AMAZING cushion. These are def a pair you can rock on the streets and ball in.

i came to talk about the changes made to this exact shoe i hate the different outsole i love the og i have the white/citron’s waiting for the price to go down before i get the black and purps.
