Air Force Friday: Nike Air Force 1 Mid “Red Toe”
Posted by Matt Halfhill | Jun 26, 2009 Initially introduced in 1994, the Nike Air Force 1 Mid was a polarizing sneaker created to bridge the gap between the low top Air Force 1 and the uber-high top AF1 high. The shoe has long been a love/hate sneaker, but in 1997, this Air Force 1 turned many heads regardless of what they thought of the mid-top cut.
The shoe’s predominantly white upper had a never before seen toebox and toe cap in the same color. The shoes stood out even more with the front being a vibrant red reptile skin. If this shoe looks somewhat familiar, there is a good reason for it. Though no one from the Nike camp has officially confirmed it, it would be pretty safe to assume that it was this shoe that inspired a pair of White/Red Air Force 1 Mids that released earlier this year with a red elephant print toebox and toe cap. |

Holy chit…I must be trippin out..I swear I was on the road yesterday and I was thinkin about these exact shoes,EXACT SHOES!..my boy had these joints and I always loved them…”peace Julian where you at? QUEENS” around the sametime we was bangin that boot camp clik in NY breakin nights and chit..Any of my NY headz feel me on that? Anyway the ones they released in the red and the green just didn’t give me that same feelin they was cool but for some reason uptowns ain’t really uptowns anymore…

I had these wheb i wax a shorty, they pretty wicked. I got them cuz they reminded me of the iversons with the red toe. I had them to. I was a sneaker head b4 they came up with that word! lol

I had the blue and white ones of these back in 1997…the colors where reversed…they were blue and the toe was white

These are definitely better than the elephant prints that came out this year. There was also a black with white toe lizardskin mid. Hard to find these days.
