Kicks On Court: Lakers Finish Off Magic in Style

The Nike Zoom Kobe IV was arguably one of the better basketball sneakers during the 2008-09 NBA season. We saw a plethora of colorways throughout the year on Bryant’s feet. By the end of the year, he had influenced some of his teammates to play in various colorways of his fourth signature sneaker. That said, our Kicks On Court spotted Kobe and some of his teammates rocking the instant classic Nike Zoom Kobe IV for the championship game. In the fifth and final game of the Orlando Magic-Los Angeles Lakers championship series, Kobe Bryant, Lamar Odom and Trevor Ariza all laced up the Kobe IV. Odom wore the Kobe IV “Del Sol”, while Ariza hooped in a nameless Black/Purple-Yellow colorway. Last but not least, Bryant himself played in the “Away” colorway of the “Finals Edition” colorway. What better way to close out the Kobe IV by winning a fourth championship? Sadly, this will be the last official Kicks On Court until the 2009-2010 season begins. However, throughout this week, we will be showcasing the Kicks On Court awards! What are your thoughts on our Kicks On Court column? |

If we cant compare Kobe to Jordan because he only has 4 rings or 1 finals mvp. Then stop comparing Bron Bron to Kobe He has nothing but stats going for him. Hes’s the new Barkley, the new mailman, and everyones hood favorite Allen Iverson. Kobe is the best thing smoking right now. If Orlando would of won people would have been saying it was the best finals ever.

Congrats to Mamba and the Lakers. it was well-earned. I’m glad Kobe’s got that can’t win w/o Shaq monkey off his back. Which is nonsense because Shaq hasn’t proved he can win w/o an All-Star sidekick either.
Also, not sure how Laker fans can really compare Kobe’s body of work to LeBron’s considering outside of ‘09 Cavs vs ‘03 Lakers, none of LBJ’s teams were better than any of KB’s squads. So stop doing the Black Mamba a disservice by comparing him his junior. And out of respect for His Airness, no Jordan comparisons until Kobe can get at least a 5th ring.

can we PLEASE stop comparing Kobe to MJ, its not even close. no matter what Kobe does, he’ll NEVER be able to surpass what MJ did in his career, so GET OVER IT!! Kicks on the court would have been TONS better if we didn’t have to see Kobe’s shoe in every damn post. I know he’s a beast on the court, but the shoe, not so much.

Let me jump back in this convo for the last time, Yes i think that the Lake Show will repeat bcuz they will basicailly have the same team but a healthier Bynum. Jackson has 10 rings, more than any other coach in any other sport. As far as kobe and jordan, of course jordan is the greatest bcuz of his work on and off the court. Not to mention him being the next face of the NBA. Now jordan didn’t do it all by himself neither. U mean to tell me that pippen, kerr, rodman, armstrong, harper, etc where all scrubs. What sport are u watching. Listen, u win championships with a team, not an individual. Kobe is in his prime right now and no one can guard him. PERIOD! LeBron is definately next. Just not yet. If the Lakers keep there same squad, they will repeat. No one can match up with them cuz they have the best player on the planet and to much depth. (Not to mention the greatest coach of all-time) Nuff Said REAL TALK. Some ppl will never give Kobe credit. it is what it is.

TO ALL THE DUMBA$$ES SAYING JORDAN IS A BETTER PLAYER THAN KOBE BASED ON THE FACT THAT HE WON MORE CHAMPIONSHIPS THAN KOBE….you guys need to realize how irrelevant of a stat that is in classifying him as the best player ever. JORDAN WON 6 (not the most), BILL RUSSEL WON 11- so does that mean russel was a better player than jordan, or that everyone who has won more is better? well, according to your stupid point of view, i guess so. and i guess derek fisher is better than Lebron since he has more rings. you guys should really use your heads

mr. Fly dayz fly nitez, KG and Boston would’ve never had a ring if Ariza and Bynum were healthy last year in the Finals. Don’t forget right before Bynum got injured, he was dropping numbers like 28 and 17. He’s still not 100%, that knee is fukked up like he said. He’s skipping USA practice to get it back to perfect form. ALL U OTHER TEAMS WATCH OUT NEXT YEAR FOR A HEALTHY ANDREW BYNUM TO ROCK UR SQUAD…
As for the Kobe-Jordan comparisons, come on people, leave it alone. At least not yet. If Kobe can lead this group to 2 or more championships, and continue to show his continued dominance with another dynasty, then it’ll be legit.

why do people compare kobe having 4 rings to lebron having 0. thats a dumb assed comparison that means nothing. lebron hasnt been in the league for 13 years like kobe, and he didnt have shaq as a center. just like kobe, jordan, and the other greats, lebrons time will come. but the way the lakers are looking, they may be ready for a couple more rings. its sad that the magic beat the Cavs, the finals were practically a sweep, atleast if the cavs wouldve won we would have gotten a 23 vs. 24 matchup. that would have been epic, even if the cavs had their rear quarters handed to them, you cant go wrong with the 2 best players in the leage going head to head for a best of 7. hopefully we’ll get that next year. plus the cavs would have made this kicks on court- finals edition more interesting, orlando brought no heat

Anyone who still talkin about how kobe can’t win w/o shaq, your question was answered yesterday. All that talk about the magic giving up, hey can u blame them. The lakers outmatched them, PERIOD. I really wish that KG would’nt have got injured that way it would have been a rematch. The Lakers smelled blood from the end of last years finals. Nuff Said. All i gotta say is REPEAT. Next year lets see if LeBron ready to meet up wit Kobe. (The puppet commercials were hilarious wit lebron by hisself)

This was the most boring finals did the magic even show up??? I mean what happened the guys I saw in game two what happened to the howard I saw in game 4? I mean did david stern pull these guys to the side and said hey its a wrap and I need you guys to flop real bad it just doesnt add up only in one position do the lakers have an clear advantage and thats 2 guard! Point it was even maybe even advantage with a healthy jameer nelson odom vs lewis offensively lewis he plays no d and hedo if he put his mind to it he crushes ariza stop giving kobe open looks and gasol and byum vs howard they didnt do that much better than him he is stil too much for both of them but Howard needs to have more than a dunk! Wow I guess if one man that being KG wouldve been healthy would Kobe even have this ring we will never know…….. Oh yeah european players are wack the never show up in crunch time anybody who thinks rubio is the best point guard available needs to be examined for swine flu!!!
