Kicks On Court: Lakers Crush Orlando by 25 in “61 Points”

After a long hiatus (not really, it’s only been five days), NBA basketball is back! Throughout the 2008-09 playoffs, we have spotted Kobe Bryant sporting a plethora of Zoom Kobe IV colorways. He’s even influenced some of his teammates to lace up the Zoom Kobe IV on occasion! However, Kobe Bryant and a couple of his teammates brought out what may be the best Zoom Kobe IV to date. In game 1 of the Orlando Magic-Los Angeles Lakers series, our Kicks On Court spotted Kobe Bryant, Lamar Odom and Shannon Brown hooping in the exclusive Nike Zoom Kobe IV “61 Points”. Although the colorway (White/Purple-Gold) is very similar to many of the previous Kobe IV colorways, this particular shoe possesses a few more unique details than the others. I agree with “Coach K”, to say that Jordan had no competition is freaking hilarious. The 80’s & 90’s were pure talent & competition. Unfortunately for the Ewings, the Barkley’s, the Karl Malone’s…Jordan was Jordan and he took rings away from them.

I do agree that “Kicks On court” should display or comment on what other players were wearing as well. For instance, Dwight Howard’s sneakers looked like a new CW to me. However this is mainly in response to the 7th letter! When Jordan came into the league Magic was only 24 and Bird 25 yrs old.. Magic also won 3 titles after Jordan was in the league and Bird 1. How is that old? Btw Barkley, Olajuwon, Ewing, Robinson, Drexler, Shaq, GP weren’t great players??? Wow!

Im a huge Bball fan. I wasnt a Kobe fan till the last couple of years when he started making the players around him better. I also Believe that Jordan was ONE of the greatest players of all time. He came into the league in a time where stars were declining. Magic and Bird were already getting old. Jordan shined because he was the only great player in his era. Think about who Jordan played against???? Nobody as competitive as the people before him. That is why he was the savior of the league. The timing was right for him. Think about all the players that defended him in his prime. A bunch of nobodies. To say he didnt have help was crap too. Pippen was no scrub. Top 50 of all time means something. Get off Jordans nuts and respect the game as a whole. Do some research.

I’m sick of people saying Kobe will never be Mike! Kobe isn’t taking claim to be the next “Jordan”. Thats the media talking. Look at the interviews where the reporters ask him that famous question, “who’s the next Joran”? Kobe even says he’s not the next Jordan he’s just Kobe. He goes on by saying there will never be another Jordan. Yeh, right now, Jordan is the best of all time. Jordan has six rings and he has countless other accolades, but Kobe still has at least six to eight good years left in him. Guy is still young and is working on ring number four. And if not for that lame rape case, he would have three MVP’s not just one. As of right now, Kobe’s the man and LBJ is just playing second best. Lakers in 6 (maybe 5)

Two things have happened since MJ has been in our known world, two things that had NEVER happened before:
1. The two greatest players of their generation, Magic Johnson and Larry Bird both said that Michael Jordan was the greatest they have ever seen and probably ever will see. They said this when they were STILL playing against him
2. The two greatest players of our current generation, Kobe Bryant and LeBron James (you could argue there are others…Duncan, etc…) have both said that they will never touch MJ…
Now I’m not saying there will NEVER be a player greater than MJ, what I am saying is that it won’t be for a long time…and after seeing LeBron get to the Finals and lose, then lose two Conference Finals in a row…he isn’t looking like the greatest to ever play, not unless he wins 7 titles before retiring.
And, with the whole Kobe comparison…PLEASE. I wonder how many titles MJ would have one with one of the greatest centers of all time on his team? Kobe & Shaq should have beaten Detroit in 04, but they didn’t. MJ wouldn’t have lost.
MJ breaks the “every generation a new player rises, one better than before” theory…MJ is the greatest and will be for a long time.

Hector, even Kobe knows he’s not Mike. They’ve interviewed him several times on the subject, and he’s always gave Mike respect where respect’s due. Mike however, never dropped 40+ the very first game of the finals…..AI, Shaq, and Jerry West were the only others to drop 40+ game one of the finals.
