Vans Vault continues to flood the shoe market with pack after pack. Having showed you the “Mint” Collection a few weeks ago, we now turn our focus to this exclusive Vans Vault “Wool” Lineup. Since we are in the middle of the summer now, you might start sweating just looking at these photos. This Sk8-Hi, along with the other three sneakers involved in this pack, features a black premium wool/leather base. Other models included in this lineup are the Slip On, Chukka Boot and the Old Skool. Besides the Old Skool, which possesses a predominatly brown base, each sneaker in this collection contains a mostly black upper mixed with a white rubber sole. VANS SK8 Hi Have always been ugly.
This whole swag, SB movement is horrible to the shoe game

Part I. Analysis of children’s books
a. read and asses 10 books
b. select books from different time periods
c. survey and summarize the results of your survey of each book. Below are some suggesttions for themes/topics to look for
i. Title, author, and publisher. You must do this and provide bibliographic listings
ii. age group toward which this group is directed
iii. What is the book about? (state this briefly)
iv. Examine the portrayal of females and males
1. The ratio of male to female characters (quantify)
2. Physical Characterisitcs (appearance, dress, etc.)
3. Activities: what do males do; what do females do
4. Language:
5. Any other themes or topics as they relate to gender
d. compare the books and summarize the results of your survey. Note
whether more recent books and more “balanced” than older books and
whether females are represented in less traditional roles in the new
books (this may not be the case)
Part II. Observational study of women’s roles as portrayed on American Television:
4 pages
a. Watch 30-minute re-run*, a 30 minute program* which as appeared for
the first time during the past couple years, and 10 tv commercials
Address the following:
i. in what ways are woman portrayed in tv
ii. what changes, if any, appear to be occuring with the passage of
time? watch for such roles as homemaker, mother, wife and career woman
iii. what social behaviors are demonstrated by female characters? be
alert for signs of dependency, independence, competence, incompetence,
confidence fear dominance, submission
iv. what stereotypes are reinforced by these performances?
v. what conclusion can you draw from your observation?
vi. are there differences between woman in shows and commericals?
vii. How do portryala of woman in commericals vary
b. summarize your observations and conclusions in a short paper. Make
sure that you aknowledge the televisionshows appropriately and provide
a list in some manner of the commericials that you watched
Part III. Interview males and females minimum pages…plus chart…and responses
a. interview 10 males 10 females at different ages and/or phrases of
heir life cycle. for example young single, young married, middlee-aged,
divorced, married, widowed etc
b. using the questionnaire as the basic framework ask your subjects the questions and record their answers
c. prepare a summary record sheet for the folloeing questions asked of all your interviews
i. ideal wife….ideal husband
ii. feminity…masculinity
iii. ideal couple…surgery…feminist
iv. working fathers…working mothers
v. occupations for woman…for men
vi. who should make major household decisions concerning money, new car, major purchases, etc?
d. write a summary paper comparing your subjects’ responses. In your
paper try to identify such features as age effects, marital status
effects, etc,
Part IV. Gender and Generations: (2-4 pages)
a. you need to interview a woamn who is at least 1 generation older
than you…that would be someone your parents’ age or your grandparents
age. try to find the oldest female that will let you do this interview.
ask them these wuestions
i. how have womens’ roles changed since they were your age
ii. what things do they wish they had known about work, parenting and
marriage that they know now, but did not know when they were younger?
iii. what was a major event that occured their adolescent or adult years and how that event impacted their life?
iv. name three of their hardest struggles and there of their greatest joy of being a woman
b. in your paper give only the initials, relationship to you, and birth date (year) of the person you interviewed
