Air Force Friday: Air Force 1 “Year of the Horse”

Air Force 1 Year of the HorseThe “Year of the Horse” Air Force 1 released in 2002 in time for the Chinese New Year. To celebrate the coming of the new year, only 2,002 pairs of the shoes were released and kicked off a several year run of special Air Force 1s made to honor the Chinese New Year. Like with many traditions that started pre-2007, for some reason, when the Air Force 1 celebrated its 25th Anniversary, the traditions were set aside never to return. The shoes were dropped in Asia, but that did not get in the way of many AF1 heads of all ethnicities trying to get their hands one these shoes. Special features of the shoes include a galloping horse on the insole and Kanji characters for “horse” on the heel tab and tongue.

I wish I had been able to get my hands on these. I like the simple look, especially on forces. Plus I was born in the Year of the Horse so it’s only fitting.

@ I_gOt_ThoSe - clown… if u were a real sneaker head u would’ve peep’d that all the other “year of the…’s” like the year of the year of the the dog, rat, pig etc… were a lil more creative than these if they had included the views with the special features of the shoes that include the galloping horse on the insole and the Kanji characters for “horse” on the heel tab and tongue. then maybe i wouldn’t hav call them plain jane, but they didnt which makes them mediocre AF1’s… check my closet to see what a real sneakerhead looks like boi…LOL

Yes they are simple, that is the whole idea. If you are a true sneakerhead you should be able to understand that this design is about longevity, it commerarates the year of your birth, colors and styles change with each generation and designer, but classic colorways last forever.
