The Air Jordan 3 “True Blue” is making its first return to retail stores for the first time just short of eight years. Today a pair of the 2009 retros landed in our office so we wanted to break down the differences between the 2001 and 2009 retros. Still have a fresh pair of the ‘01 pair. Although the back where the Jumpman is started to yellow slightly. The 3’s are my favorite all-time.

Just got home 2 hours ago from coppin em. The paint on the midsole is a worry. $220AUD… worth every dollar. classics.

i like the way the blue only goes halfway on the inside of the mid sole. That’s the way the originals were back in ‘88. those were my first pair of jordan’s!

the 01 is better, but not by much ppl.. the IIIs are on the sickest shoes ever with this at the top of my colorways … all and all, own 2 pairs of these 09s and its WELL worth it… i do wish however the blue went the distance like the 01’s but beggars cant be choosers… could be worse.. look at the fire reds from 06.. yikes.

the difference is just the size chart and the plastic jordan emblem color ones witer than the other its minimal there shouldnt be a reasont o pass this purchase up its all good….

nice. The only difference i seen is the smaller side stitching and the non-preforated tongue on the 2009 version.

absolutely mind blowing that these arent going to be released in the U.S.. Somebody at Jordan Brand needs to lay off the drugs. Instead of jordan brand making money, they are letting some kid in Luxemburg buy these at retail and resell them to a deserving kid in the u.s. for twice if not triple the price. Way to go Jordan, making kids in Luxemburg rich!! Maybe its thier way of giving back for all the sweatshops across the world. Seriously, LAY OFF THE CRACK!!!

F**CK THE 2009 VERSION TOTALLY DIFFERENT THE ELEPHANT PRINT TO DARK, THE BLUE INSIDE TO LIGHT, THE TONGUE NOT SAME, THE BLUE ON THE MID SOLE NOT ALL THE WAY AND THE COLOR BLUE IS OFF, AND SPECIALLY ON THE QUALITY NOT SAME THE 2009 VERSION MID SOLE THE WHITE PART ARE PAINTED AND WE ALL KNOW THAT EASY TO GET CRACK AND CHIP THE PAINT AFTER WEAR LIKE 2 OR 3 TIMES AND SOMETIMES 1 WEAR ,ALL SAME LIKE THE OTHER NIKE JORDAN 3 AND 4.

does the OG pair have that yellowish tint from wear/age or it that the actual color of the shoe? the 09’s are creisy white all around.

1. peforated leather is different
2. midsole is blue all the way on the 01, half blue half white on the 09
3. cement has bigger ridges

you guys gottem late.got mine over a month ago.3 pair.plus i got 2 pair of the 2001’s crispy.im killin em.the quality of the 01’s are much better.softer leather and more comfortable on the inside.

@JB In Germay these are around 130-135 Euros, which is around 183-190 USD.
Got mine yesterday, quality seems okay but the midsole paint is a big concern. Already had this problem with the Fire Reds

The air jordan 3 is one of the greatest shoes ever made. It is the first jordan to have the jumpman on it that alone makes it great. The “True Blue” colorway is a great colorway but the fact that the shoes don’t have “nike air” on the back totally takes away from the greatness of the shoe! I’m totally amazed at how excited people that call themselves sneakerheads get over these second rate releases!

01 TB III’s still are the best, the 09 TB III’s dont look as good, everything looks off from cement print to the stitching to the paint & airbubble… wouldn’t pay $200 just to get them over seas..

Umm screw the 09s I hate jb for the glossy midsole paint that they use on 3s and4s I have 2 walk like I have a stick shoved up my rear no homo so the midsole paint dosent crack and look horrendous go back 2 flat paint jb stop being cheap u aholes apart from giving us lower qualityy shoes u makes us have 2 pay more for em gtfo and won’t release em stateside

The 2009 editions look much better. I say that as I hold the actual pair in my hands right now. I ordered them on Sunday and they arrived this morning. I had to pick them up from the post office this afternoon. And man they are sick. I didn’t cop the 2001 editions but based on the pics displayed and what I’m holding in my hands, I have to definitely go with the 2009 editions.

They could have finished the blue all the way around the inside. It looks incomplete. Over all still looks Damn good!!!

Yeah the blue should have went throughout the whole shoe. I don’t like how the blue lining is only half way on the instep of the blues ones.

Looks like a slightly different shade of blue. Also the inside part of the midsole on the 09 version is only 1/2 blue while the 01 version is a 3/4 blue midsole.
Do you guys see anything else?
