Staple x Airwalk Collection Available Now
Posted by Matt Halfhill | Aug 11, 2009 There has been much talk and debate about Jeff Staple’s move to work with Airwalk on a line of products sold at Payless Shoes, but all feelings and emotions aside the shoes are available now at Payless stores nationwide and online at Payless.com. The collection showcases some familiar silhouettes of Airwalk brought back with touches and colors selected by the careful curation of Staple Design.
While Staple and the infamous pigeon is usually associated with “unattainable” whether it be for extremely limited quantities, selective distribution, or a far reaching price, one can purchase the shoes from the Staple x Airwalk collection starting at only $29.99. |

What’s funny is how some SH’s are all about getting what’s “exclusive” or “limited” among their peers…
But when a brand that none of their fellow SH’s would rock because they’re for “poor people” come out with joints that look better than what brands that are for “rich folk” spew out, it makes me wonder. Are we rockin kicks or just name brands?

Hey guys, work with the team on the campaign for these kicks (have some Heavens myself). Dont forget to check out the other styles on stapledesign.com and soon to be on stplxairwalk.com.
Also, if you do a little searching, there is a $10 coupon floating around good till 8/31
@Chayoo: 8/11 was the day they went national, so you may have gotten there too early. Should be there now

Not much hate in the comments (SO FAR). People are surprising me with their genuine regard for the shoe. I’m an early 80’s baby, so I have much respect for Airwalk.

I wouldn’t mind copping. I might not wear them like my Jordan’s (you never know though, they look good to me). Anyone who’s ever skateboarded may know how easy it is to wreck a pair of shoes. My friend used to be sick at skating. Dude would tear up his shoes so fast. He would basically look for shoes in clearance racks at skate shops because he would go through a pair a month.
He wasn’t tripping over wearing the newest DC or Nike SB model because the ones that came out last year are like $40 on clearance and he can use them to skate. In high school and at the local skate parks kids would have shoes covered in electrical tape, shoe goo, or whatever they could do to keep their toes from being exposed. I think it’s so good of Airwalk to have a nice looking, durable shoe at a low cost.
All these major skate shoe brands have $100+ shoes which are going to be used on a surface that is essentially sand paper. All the ollies and flips take a toll on the shoe, and even though the companies are working hard to come up with new technology to make the shoes last longer (DC/éS synthetic leathers, SupraTUF leather, etc.), the shoes are still being used to skateboard in, which is going to damage the shoes no matter what. It’s cool that now there is an easier cost of entry for a good looking shoe. Even for non-skateboarders.

I still say these are great, and the low price only makes them better. Am I the only one tired of paying too much for “limited” kicks? They’re shoes, people.

I’M SURE THE STATEMENTS FOLLOWING MY POST ARE GOING TO BE LITTERED WITH HATE AND CLOSED MINDEDNESS BECAUSE OF THE PAYLESS ASSOCIATION. TO THOSE I SAY “F U”. THESE ARE DOPE. I WILL COP.
