Doernbecher Auction Shoe Art
Posted by Alex Kroviak | Sep 23, 2009 We’ve covered art that’s shoe-inspired before, like the “Junk Art” Terminator or Shepard Fairey’s MJ Prints, but now we have a group of pieces done for the Doernbecher Auction that’s shoe-contructed, or rather, shoes deconstructed.
By breaking down each pair of the kid-designed Nikes and rearranging them across a canvas, Vincent Clervi put a new spin on each design. Using a pair of Jordan VIs, Nike Shox, Dunks, P-Rod IIIs, AF1s and Air Max Zeniths, Vincent laid out the pieces using inspirations from each child’s own design elements. Like the other Doernbecher pieces, including the 1 of 1 black-on-tan Yeezy that went for almost $17,000, these pieces were auctioned and sold to benefit the charity organization. People are not the smartest on here.. “Thats dumb, just buy the shoe.” “It looks better as a shoe anyway” Thats not the pont of this project.. The point was to make a piece of art which he did by deconstructing a shoe.. SOmething I have never seen before. Done this way anyway.
