Gabriel Dishaw “Frankenstein Terminators” Junk Art

Gabriel Dishaw "Frankenstein Terminators" Junk Art

For sneakerheads, our collections are wearable art. But sometimes it works in reverse, and art collections features shoes. Yesterday we showed you a Shepard Fairey MJ Print, and today we bring you another Nike-inspired piece of art–Gabriel Dishaw’s “Frankenstein Terminators” junk art.

Dishaw is based out of Indiana and specializes in using “junk” like scrap metal and spare computer parts to create sculptures. This is actually his third Nike-related bit of work, and you can check out the other two on his website. The Nike Terminator is a classic high-top silhouette, and Dishaw wanted to, “[...]do it right by making the entire package: from the shoes, to the shoe box, label, diagram and shoe tags.” This sculpture is an incredible piece, and its clear that Dishaw, who is a sneaker fiend himself, did this just right.

Wow, not at all suprised, but great job Gabe!

Gabe and I have been good friends since the 7th grade. He’s truly a gifted and motivated artist and deserves all the exposure and recognition he can get. As mentioned by George Johnson and Jaytwizzi, this is not his only work and you should definitely check out his website and Facebook page! I believe there are links in the article. I hope NIKE does see this and realizes his potential, I can almost guarantee they will and he will likely be contacted in the near future.

And to all those D-bags that posted a bunch of BS, especially that stroke “Feet 1st”, if you’re going to attempt to debate the quality of someone’s work or belittle them, make sure you convey your opinions in an educated manner. Your broken a$$ English got you labeled a straight up douche after your first comment, but the second comment just solidified that impression. Appreciate the art, it’s not a “wearable” shoe, dipsh*t!

yung p makes no sense at all how you gonna say all hype heads want to be the freshest in the school and then call them bums?? isnt that kind of going back on what you said…and if this guy did a collab with nike what the hell do you think they would look like? Junk; just like this. this is nothing more than an arts and crafts project in juniour high.

  5. Jaytwizzi23

Nice to see Gabe getting some more love with the creations. From a guy who knows the artist, this isnt his best work, Gabe has created some SUPER large sculptures, one titled “The Running Man..” which i belive is his most notable peices of work.

    nice find NiceKicks!
    Good job Gabe!

    CRACK!!!!

  10. Yung P

Nike should pick up on this idea. Give the man some bank & let him lead the design team on an official collab. This is what true sneakerheads do in their off time all ya’ll bum ass “hype heads” are the reason why people with real talent dont get found & Nike & JB lower their quality! You cant appeciate this art because all you care about is the new thing & being the freshest kid in school. Ya’ll bums are ruining the sneaker game. Big ups to Gabriel Dishaw.

Well put shoemelikeyoushould if you would have picked up a little thing called reading in your kindergarten class you would realize this is a sculpture not an actual pair of shoes. It makes me so mad when ignorant people who don’t take time to read anything throw their ignorant comments around. Go on nickjr.com and learn how to read.

  18. Kels

Nice work! I really like the concept and colorway. There are a lot of ignorant people in here who don’t appreciate art. ^^ People its not a actual shoe! LOL SMH..

  19. shoemelikeyoushould

read before posting. the internet is not a picture book. the black symbols that come before the pictures are words and contain information pertaining to the pictures. get informed and stop leaving stupid comments.
