Without heading to Google, it’s unlikely that all of us can say right away what shoe Brent Barry wore when he won the NBA Dunk Contest. Some of our younger readers might not even know he won it at all. But what about the shoe Vince Carter wore? When VC forever changed the Dunk Contest, he also put the And 1 Tai Chi on the map, and turned a small-time sneaker line into one of the most sought-after shoes of the year 2000, despite its simple design and low price. On November 12, the And 1 Tai Chi will release in a black and white colorway exclusive to Foot Locker. While not the same as the red and white pair Vince wore when he reinvented JR Rider’s dunk, the yin-and-yang-inspired sneaker holds a special place in the hearts of many of us. At a projected cost of only $70, the Tai Chi is a proven court shoe, split in half between black and white by design. Brent Barry was rockin the Nike Zoom Flight 95…. and he did the “from the free throw dunk” to win it. Yep he was a member of the 95-96 class of rookies where mostly the drafts were big men on court, KG, Sheed, McDyess, Joe Smith… was a famous batch of draft class besides the 96 class (Kobe, AI etc) and the 84 (Jordan, Olajuwon Stockton, Barkley)… goin back to the shoes, man I remember when Spreewell was sportin the black/orange or the black/blue for the playoffs back in Knicks. I loved those colors! Sadly only got the black/carolina blue.

I still have a few pairs of these. The gray/white the blue/white and the carolina blue/navy blue. Definitely one of my favorite joints.

Yo I had the And 1 slip-ons in Royal blue. Those were the shyt! I don’t think I would grab a pair of these tho. Just not my style. I remember Ben Wallace rockin And 1’s too.

definitely gonna pass on these. most painful shoe i’ve EVER worn. played in these for a season and every time i took these joints off after i finished running, my feet ached and throbbed for hours. felt great while i was playing though, but the second i took ‘em off…damn…**shakes head** i’ve never had an experience like that with any other shoe.
