Andre Igoudala’s Nike Hyperize PEs Banned
Posted by George Kiel III | Oct 5, 2009 At the end of last week, we showed you Los Angeles Lakers power forward Pau Gasol’s Nike Hyperize PE in which many of you liked a lot. Although it will releases some time in November, we have spotted three new PEs that will not see the light of day even on the NBA hardwood.
First off, these three Hyperize colorways are PEs for Philadelphia 76ers small forward Andre Igoudala. At a first glance, you may be wondering why these sneakers were banned from the NBA seeing that the colors undoubtedly coincide with the 76ers jerseys. However, they were banned because of the gum sole each one possesses. In your opinion, is that a legitimate reason to ban these shoes? I say wear them anyway and pay the damn fine like MJ. I mean ur endorsing the hyperize not tha kobe IV. Hell, even have Nike pay tha fine, u saw what happened after tha jordan 1 drew a fine from the league.

No, he was fined for wearing the Concords and switching his jersey number in game 2 of that series. He was told by the league he had to wear all black shoes to match with the rest of the Bulls. Then he worn the Air Flight 1(Penny’s) for one game, then used the Space Jams for the rest of that series against the Magic. The fines totalled $30,000. $25,000 for switching numbers without league permission and $5,000 for the Concords.
I know this because I actually got to watch as it happened. Every sneakerhead in the world went crazy when they saw the concords on his feet.

jordan wasnt fined for wearing the white xi’s in the playoffs. he was fined for wearing the space jams so he rocked the all black pennys

Jordan wasn’t fined for the patent leather, he was fined for wearing a mostly white shoe when the rest of the Bulls were wearing black shoes for the playoffs.
I think the rule is that the shoes have to match the team colors. They gum rubber color is not in the Clips uniform. The OG AJ XIII white/red had to be changed because the grey on the toes was not in the Bulls uniform.
It’s stupid and a very minor detail.

i don’t know why gum soles are banned either. rules on nba.com don’t say anything about the types of shoes players can or can’t wear… so i’m really confused. until someone can explain it, i don’t think the ban of gum soles is a legit rule at all.
