Today, we give you our last Player Profile installment for awhile in the form of Julius Erving, Grant Hill and Carmelo Anthony’s memorable sneaker lines.

With that said, click here to compare/contrast the extensive signature lines of these three superstar small forwards. In case you missed it, check out: (1) Point Guards Player Profiles Magic Johnson, Gary Payton and Chris Paul, (2)Shooting Guards Player Profiles Michael Jordan, Penny Hardaway and Kobe Bryant and the first (3)Small Forwards Player Profiles James Worthy, Scottie Pippen and LeBron James.

Julius Erving

Julius Erving, better known as Dr. J, gained superstar status as a pioneer of the ABA and later as an All-Star in the NBA. The acrobatic scorer earned MVP and Championship honors in both leagues while becoming a fan favorite and one of the most entertaining players ever. With unforgettable highlights such as the ‘baseline move’ and ‘Rock the Baby Dunk’, the former Squire, Net, and Sixer will forever be remembered as one of the greatest players ever. Dr. J was endorsed by Converse and was the recipient of a signature collection. The Pro Leather was a sleek basketball shoe that was offered in high and low top. The shoe is also famous because Michael Jordan wore them while at North Carolina. As a Sixer, Converse released The Dr. J, an updated version of the Pro Leather that offered more padding and support as well as a Dr. J logo and signature. Near the end of his career he was used to endorse the Converse Star Tech alongside fellow NBA legends and Converse signees Magic Johnson and Larry Bird. Since his retirement Converse has released the Pro Leathers and also introduced The Dr. J 2000.

I remember I was the first person on campus with the GH1’s!! Everybody loved them. IDK but they were hittin in 95!….The Melo PE line is gorgeous!

  2. T.Way

Grant Hill is the absolute best. I grew up idolizing that man and still have the greatest amount of respect for the guy. HOF for sure if he hadn’t been injured year after year…

  3. Maurice

I have those Carmelo pe IIs still fresh

  4. zack

check my blog kicksoncards.tumblr.com for the GH3 posted today!!

  5. aj21121

damn melo pe’s 10 and 20 are sick! IN MY OPINION IF THEY PUT DR.J AS THE “LEGENDARY” THEY SHOULD PUT DOMINIC WILKINS AS PAST AND VINCE CARTER AS PRESENT… it will have more logic than this one because they are the best dunkers of all time

  6. digable

all i have read on this is that the look of the melo’s are whack…but have any of you tried his sig shoes?? when it comes to ball shoes…they are one of the most comfortable shoes…to me this shoe serves more for function than fashion…but i bet half of the ppl here just wanna look good on the floor vs. feeling comfortable and more than half the time ppl wanna look good on the floor is cuz they cant ball…thats the general feedback im getting…

  7. biggsby the sneaker dude

Melos are wac, but the Melo Jordan Retro PEs are official.

  8. suckers...

    them AJ22 PE’s are gorgeous

  9. theGR8hope

goddamn those GH4s are retarded!!! i dont even remember those hitting the court, and im glad.

  10. rog123

lmnop, some of these guys, hill-kemp-penny, would also have a huge sig line, but they couldn’t stay healthy enough. Also I don’t think anyone from docs time had a long sig line

  11. rog123

WHERE’S ALLEN IVERSON??? He has arguably the best sig shoe line since mj

  12. Sneakerholic

    Dem melo 12s nd 20 r sick

  13. lmnop

these days top payers just get too many signature shoes. Melo is going into his 6th or 7th year and already has 6 of his own shoes out and none of them have been that great…….. Dr J had one……

and oh yeah, the GH2’s are siick. i had the GH1s wen i was a lil yungun, i diddnt even know who grant hill was.

  14. Shaun

I’ll take the Fila Grant Hill 2s over any Melo sneaker.

  15. nuggs15

damn those melo 10 PE’s are nice

  16. cocotaso

gimme grant hill 1 & 2’s over any of melos sigs.

  17. SomeSneakerGuy

kidphaze, isn’t there a whole message board for this type of question? Aren’t there like 20 different message boards you can use?

  18. SomeSneakerGuy

Melo doesn’t deserve to be on ANY list with DR. J and Hill!

  19. hect23

    Fila shoes are very uncomfortable
I bought them because Grant Hill was so great!!!

  20. greenmaker24

    some cool stuff

  21. RETRO3S

carmelo’s PE IIs, Xs, XIIs, XIIIs, XXs, XX3s, and 2009s are sick.

what’s up with the “PE” VIIs? theyre just olympics with MELO stitched on the side…

converse dr. Js are sick too.

  22. Jerronimo

Grant Hill drinks Sprite!?…lol..Those are classics!! I grabbed a pair of the GH2’s from Finishline for the low-low. I’m giving my man Melo the ribbon on this forum tho. Being signed to JB has it’s advantages as you can see. I’m not a fan of his signature shoes tho. They always seem to miss the mark on design. Dr. J is just classic retro tho. I need a pair of the Converse Pro’s. Jordan rocked a white/carolina blue pair in college. (Look at his last shot photo in the NCAA finals)……nice!

  23. BillCollektr

    I’d rather keep the De La’s man…

  24. kidphaze

I know this is off topic but i own a pair of DE LA SOULS which i know are hard to come by..A friend wants to trade for the red 5s from the toro bravo pack and two pairs of vans..should i accept??

  25. ttime23

Man dats all i use to wear was the GH2, one of my favorite shoes.

  26. BillCollektr

I remember seeing 2Pac sporting the GH2 in his “All Eyes On Me” CD booklet. Those bring me back man!

  27. JROCK0

DEM MELO PE 10’s aint nun but da truff

  28. tray

Melo pe’s are harder than his signatures

  29. i heart melo

    i hate fila
