Pete Wentz x Supra Vaider
Posted by Alex Kroviak | Nov 5, 2009
The Fall Out Boy guitarist has been seen in Supras for some time now. We even saw him with an early pair of burgundy TK Societys not too long ago. And to celebrate his association and appreciation for the their brand, Supra has awarded Pete with the opportunity to collaborate on this Vaider. A CCS exclusive, these are available now. The uppers on these are a black suede and given a similar treatment to the Wildlife Pack. White discoloration is intentional and appears throughout. The black laces match the tongue, which also uses red as an accent color, matching the heel panel and Supra logo. The sole is done in white with black stripes, as we’ve grown accustomed to seeing from the footwear maker. Can you see yourself rocking these? Head to the comments section and weigh in. |

This acid-wash / tye-dye business is getting old. It was nice on the Wildlife release (this looks like it would be part of that NS series … but NS Vaiders don’t make sense, lol) and the older tye-dye NS serires, but it got out of hand as soon as the Purple Tye-dyes came into play.
The next shoe they should make with this print should probably be TK’s to complete the set, but definitely kill it after that. They should bring back tiger/zebra ACCENTS (Ex. blue tigers - NOT striped magentas, because those joints are uuuugly) onto their shoes, I was really feeling that concept. They could’ve made it like a trademark kind of thing (like Jordans did with elephant print on 3s and cement speckles on 4s).
Signature / exclusive shoe designs are a thumbs-up. Stealing Jordan’s ideas (ex. designs and c/w’s - Grape and Aqua on Cruizers, which are basically Jordan 4s without the wings? I mean, at least apply it to the signature shoes like the Skytops) are a thumbs-down.
I’m not saying that the product didn’t turn out nice or that the c/w is only for a certain brand (because I love both Cruizers and 5s), but it’s just that the clear imitation is a bit too flattering towards their footwear competitors.
It’s not a TRUE copyright, but it’s a copyright in the minds of all sneaker fans out there. Stick to your own steez, Supra !
