Fashion moves in cycles. One begins, it soon thereafter ends, and somewhere down the line, it begins again. In the latter moments of the 1970s, in proximity to Britain, UK football culture birthed an edgy style movement commonly known as Terrace culture. Now, decades later, the spirit and values of terracewear are revived by one of its earliest participants.
Adidas, given its close affiliation with soccer culture then and now, maintains an intimate connection with terrace style. The Sobakov silhouette ensures the genre’s enduring legacy remains both intact and thriving.
Blending design language from archival silhouettes and modern-day street tooling, soccer is at the center of the budding style as the fashion of stadium terraces can easily define the movement it pulls from. The shoe’s knitted upper is lightweight yet forceful and durable, while its gum rubber midsole offsets the decorative Three Stripes branding across the paneling.
For its retail debut, the adidas Sobakov will release in two styles — Black/White-Gum and White/Gum — on July 21 for $120.
