The true mark of making it as a signature star in the league comes when you get your own secondary namesake sneaker for the postseason — when everything is on the line.
To power the reigning MVP through his journey towards repeating as NBA champion, Under Armour is equipping Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry with an updated edition of his second signature shoe, officially dubbed the Curry 2.5.
With inspiration drawing from the team’s nickname, a warrior’s spearhead sets the tone for the upper’s sharp design language, a nod to Curry’s precise movements on the court and dagger mentality. The spearhead’s diamond shape also features five points, symbolizing the strength of his teammates together.
Unlike the Curry Two, which featured a Speedform upper, you’ll notice a molded synthetic across most of the lateral side of the shoe, offering up added support and protection for his many jab-steps, pull-up jumpers and crossovers.
In terms of added storytelling, the zonal protection also features lines inspired by the support beams found on the Bay Bridge. You’ll notice a series of dots along the heel, which actually tie back to the coordinates of Oracle Arena. The medial side of the shoe features a dynamic fit sleeve that merges into the tongue, for a close hug against the foot.
Look for Stephen Curry to take the court this weekend in the new Under Armour Curry 2.5 as the Warriors begin their quest to defend their title after a record-breaking regular season. The 2.5 will release on May 28th at UA.com and Foot Locker, and is priced at $135.
