Vulcanized Sole: Fashion Forward or Falling Flat?
Posted by George Kiel III | Nov 19, 2009
As sneaker enthusiast, we all know the shoe world is always evolving into new and innovative styles. One year high top sneakers may be the ‘in’ thing only to change to low-cut sneakers the next year. One constant theme that we have seen this year is the vulcanized sole. Believe it or not, some of your favorite kicks have applied the vulcanized sole such as the Dunk, the Air Flight Lite High and various Jordan sneakers. With that said, our staff dug into the archives to see which sneakers are actually compatible with the ever-so-popular vulcanized sole. How do you feel about the vulcanized inflation? Nike Pegasus ‘89 “Berlin” Installation
Posted by Alex Kroviak | Nov 19, 2009
The Pegasus ‘89 runner from Nike came up the same year that the Berlin Wall came down. Since it shares its birthday with one of the most culturally relevant events in history, it’s a given that the sneaker and the Wall are forever linked. So to go beyond just designing a shoe to pay tribute to the event, Nike has also designed the Spirit Room for the release of said sneaker. Using grey, black and concrete to recreate the atmosphere of Berlin’s streets, Nike figuratively brought this room “outside.” We also see the sweatshirt that is included with the sneaker purchase, which includes interchangeable nameplates attached with velcro. The installation includes a lot of cool art and photography, so be sure to check it out if you’re in Germany soon. And if you’re stuck stateside, click here to check out the pics. |

Posted by Alex Kroviak | Nov 19, 2009
In the wake of DJ AM ’s untimely passing, his family and foundation have decided to auction his extensive sneaker collection for charity’s sake. As a part of the month-long auction, which can be found on eBay, UNDFTD’s Silverlake location is currently displaying a small portion of AM’s collection under glass for store visitors to check out. Eddie Cruz and the team at UNDFTD have been instrumental in helping the DJ AM Foundation organize this auction, along with Deckstar and a number of friends of the world famous DJ. If you’re in the area, swing by the store and check out what’s on display, or head to the auction and grab a new pair for a good cause. |
Nike Air Royal Mid QS Deep Burgundy
Posted by Alex Kroviak | Nov 19, 2009
The Air Royal Mid’s a classy sneaker, make no if, ands or buts about it. The quality leather, subtle colorways and boot-like cut make for a solid casual sneaker. We saw a black patent leather pair not to far back, and next up for December is this Deep Burgundy pair. These feature a completely burgundy leather upper on an off-white midsole, of which half is wrapped in upper-matching leather. Contrast stitching in white is used throughout. The Swoosh is done with perforation, rather than the standard sewn-on piece. These will drop the day after Christmas, December 26th, at select retailers including Standard in Atlanta. |
Nike Air Max LeBron VII NFW “Red Carpet”
Posted by Alex Kroviak | Nov 19, 2009
The “Red Carpet” LeBrons sold out so quick at select House of Hoops locations, that many of you might not have even gotten a chance at grabbing a pair. But if you’re after these ‘Brons, Foot Locker is answering your prayers with a second shipment in early December. All House of Hoops locations, including the new Dallas store, and select Foot Lockers will have a stock for sale starting the 3rd of December. This specific Air Max LeBron VII is labeled “NFW,” as it uses a woven pattern on the upper instead of Nike’s Flywire technology. The black, white and teal colorway is accented with hits of red, including alternate laces. Is this second chance the one you plan to capitalize on? |
adidas Stan Smith “Ghostface Killah”
Posted by Alex Kroviak | Nov 19, 2009
Following up on the Def Jam x adidas pack are these Stan Smiths, which have been designed to pay tribute to Ghostface Killah of the Wu-Tang Clan. You might remember that pair of black Superstars done for “Tony Starks,” one of Ghostface’s many aliases, but these give tribute to the “Pretty Toney” era Ghostface. These Stan Smiths use a grey suede upper and sit on a bright base. His “G” logo is imprinted near the heel on the upper, and yellow is used for the outsole and liner, while red is the dominant color on the midsole, heel, and tongue accent. If you want to grab a pair, these are available at select retailers now. |
