Richmond native and RevolutionAIR contest winner Sean Wotherspoon was all set to debut his coveted Nike Air Max 1/97 hybrid this morning in his hometown. But before official retailer Need Supply Co. was able to open its doors later this morning, the release was cancelled by local authorities due to what was reported as a “rowdy” crowd.
More than 500 people where on hand for the release well into the night on November 20, waiting in the cold for Need Supply to open its doors the next morning at 10am local time. Before that could happen, though, police were called to the scene to disband the massive crowd around 2:30am last night.
Need Supply announced today on its social media that they will soon announce a new release date for Wotherspoon’s shoe. For now, the Air Max 1/97 hybrid is scheduled to release today in Los Angeles before a global launch next March on Air Max Day 2018.
