Goodfoot x adidas Originals Rod Laver

Goodfoot x adidas Originals Rod Laver

adidas continues to roll out the Consortium and Originals collaborations and limited edition releases. With this Originals Rod Laver, Canada’s Goodfoot (GDFT) had a go at the low top design, dressing it up in grey and even designing a matching Varsity jacket to dress you up.

From the get-go, you can tell these are very similar to the Clae Russell “Wool”. The uppers mix in dark grey wool with a mix of accents in light grey leather, which is also used for the liner. Details include a custom insole reading “The brand with the three stripes, eh!,” paying homage to the Canadian roots of GDFT. If you recall, we got a small sneak peek of these not too long ago as a part of the adidas Consortium Rod Laver Collection, pt. 2. These are available through Goodfoot now.

adidas Consortium “Your City” Series, Part 2

adidas Consortium "Your City" Series, Part 2

We saw Bodega, UNDFTD, Solebox and Sole Service give a go at select adidas sneakers not too long ago with very positive results, and the “Your City” Series was born. For this second round of shoes, adidas invited four more big names to work with them. Are the results just as good?

We already got a look at Sneakersnstuff’s grey suede Stockholm yersterday, the first sneaker in this pack. The next up is Kopenhagen’s Norse Projects and their navy blue pair, which uses different materials (leather and suede) on the upper and the stripes. A yellow heel patch and top eyelet work as accents. Milano, Italy’s Slam Jam’s pair, which uses crinkled patent leather accents in lime over a blue upper and white sole. Gold letters along the stripes match the tongue label, which sits on a patent leather tongue in the same color as the uppers. Last up is NYC mainstay DQM’s design, which is done up in an all-black colorway with water-resistant material. Brass D-rings on the laces provide a look we don’t see too often in sneaker design.

adidas Consortium “Your City”

adidas Consortium

Two weeks ago, we gave you a preliminary view at the adidas Consortium “Your City” Pack. Instantly, it became one of the highly anticipated adidas releases and rightfully so. It was stated that this Consortium lineup will involve 12 different designs; however, Adidas will unleash the first four sneakers this Saturday, October 17th, 2009.

Each one of the four sneakers that will release this Saturday represent a specific, recognizable sneaker store. For example, Undefeated, Bodega, Solebox and Service are each represented by a Trainer, a Super, a Berlin and an Oslo, respectively. It has been stated that the “Your City” is arguably the best Consortium project of the year. Click here to share with us your thoughts and view detailed photos of each.

Adidas Consortium “Your City” Pack

Adidas Consortium "Your City" Pack

Adidas has gone global, and yet local at the same time, for this “Your City” Consortium limited release pack, which will be available soon. 4 Adidas Consortium models have been designed-by, dedicated-to and bear the name of some of the biggest sneaker shops in the world.

The UNDFTD x LA Trainer uses a red, white and blue color-up, while everyone’s favorite corner store/sneaker shop Bodega uses grey, blue, black and white for their model. Overseas, Oslo retailer Sole Service keeps it simple with a grey color-up, accented with a gold top lacehole. Germany’s Solebox, whose collaborations we’ve covered before and guessed about, uses a blac-on-gum colorway for their model.

When all is said and done, there will be 12 total “Your City” models. European retailers will work with the traditional models, while North American stores work with technical running sneakers.

Adidas Consortium Rod Laver Series Pt. 2

adidas Consortium Rod Laver SeriesPreviously, we put you on to the Solebox x adidas Consortium Rod Laver. However, we now have beautiful pictures of the make-ups of the Rod Laver that comprise pt. 2 of the Adidas Consortium Rod Laver Series.

Clearly, each collaborator within the project sought different inspirations to create their final design. In fact, the diversity within the series is instrumental in illuminating the aesthetic versatility of such a simplistic and minimalist sneaker as the Rod Laver. The Clot, Goodfoot, and Solebox versions choose to allure via textures inherent in their respective materials. Whereas, the D-mop edition strikes your eyes with its braggadocio silver and creates an irony of ornamental coloring vs. minimalist design. Lastly, Wood Wood reinforced the motif of the Rod Laver by complimenting its minimalist silhouette and decades-long heritage with a subtle and classic navy/white colorway. Overall, this series of collaborations really defines the handshaking emblem of Adidas Consortium that graces each of the tongues within the series. More specifically, each collaboration serves as a testament to the partnering of creative minds.

The Adidas Consortium Rod Laver Series Pt. 2 will release on the 19th of September.

Adidas aZX Project Q-Y Release

adidas aZX Project Q-Y Adidas Releases

The Adidas aZX Project will be back for the third installment on the 17th of October. As with the first two releases in this series, there is a good variety of high quality kicks. From the fleece material on the ZX 9000 from VA, to the bright orange on the UNDFTD ZX 8000, to the reflective mesh on the DQM ZX 90, there is plenty of flavor to choose from. The Crooked Tongues ZX 9000 are by far the hottest pair. I have know idea what UNDFTD was thinking with those laces…are they serious?
