1 on 1 with Kevin Durant

1 on 1 with Kevin DurantKevin Durant is rapidly becoming one of the young superstars in the NBA. Although the Oklahoma City Thunder have been one of the lower ranking teams for the past two years, Durant continues to be a dominant force on the court. Along with a love for basketball, he has also shown a love for sneakers since childhood. This past season, Nike blessed Durant with his first signature sneaker ever in the form of the Nike KD1. Despite requesting that Nike create a low-budget sneaker for the most to afford, the Nike KD1 was easily one of the more well-received basketball sneakers on the market.

Last week we caught up with Kevin Durant at the Gatorade Player of the Year Awards honoring the best high school athletes.  In this interview, Kevin Durant discusses who inspired him on the on and off court, what he thinks about the controversial “1 year”, and of course a number of sneaker questions you would ask him as well.

7 Colorways of Kevin Durant’s Nike KD1

7 Colorways of Kevin Durant's Nike KD1Earlier this week, we showed you an exclusive Oklahoma City Thunder colorway of Kevin Durant’s soon-to-be-released Nike KD1. While that particular colorway seemed to be Durant’s personal PE, we have now spotted seven more colorways of this highly anticipated sneaker.

Considering that Durant plays for the Oklahoma City Thunder, we thought we would be seeing some really funky colors in the Nike KD1; however, the colorways seen after the jump are very nice. One of the sneakers features the former Seattle Supersonics colorway, while another possesses the colorway of Durant’s former school, the University of Texas. In a recent Nice Kicks interview, UT guard A.J. Abrams stated that the school would be getting some of these very soon.

Kevin Durant’s Nike KD1

Kevin Durant Nike KD1Last month we showed you blueprint sketches of Kevin Durant’s 1st signature shoe dubbed the Nike KD1. We have now spotted a colorway of the actual sneaker.

Considering that Durant plays for the Oklahoma City Thunder, we should be ready to see some really funky colors on his PEs from now on. This Nike KD1 features a vivid orange upper with teal shoelaces. Durant’s initials are also colored in teal on the side panels as well. Another unique design is the orange speckled design visible on the purple midsole, swoosh and inner lining.

Supposedly, this sneaker posseses the same lightweight capacity as the player-friendly Nike Hyperdunk. They have received positive comments from Durant’s former teammate A.J. Abrams who claimed the University of Texas program will be receiving some shortly in our 1 on 1 interview. Let’s hope the Nike KD1 does not come to UT in this colorway. Burnt orange and vivd orange is not a good mixture! Expect this shoe to hit retailers in February 2009. More pics after the jump. Via Kicks On Fire.

Nike KD 1 - Kevin Durant

Nike KD 1 Kevin DurantAfter winning the 2007-08 Rookie of the Year Award, Kevin Durant has continued to shine in the league and add more accolades to his young resume. One of these achievements will be his first signature sneaker due in January dubbed the Nike KD 1. We have spotted some exclusive blueprint pictures (shown after the jump) of Durant’s first sneaker over at KenLu.

Obviously, Kevin’s sneaker are heavily inspired by his new team, the Oklahoma City Thunder. The ‘Home’ shoe features a white leather upper with an orange swoosh on the outside of the shoe and a white swoosh on the inside. You can tell, from the picture, that one side of the sneaker seems to be completely covered in Oklahoma City Thunder orange. On the contrary,  the ‘Away’ sneaker features a black upper with an orange swoosh on the outside and an aqua blue swoosh on the other side. Both sneakers feature Durant’s initials, in yellow, on the ankle area.

Lately, we have spotted Durant in our Kicks On Court Editions hooping in a Nike Air Blue Chip PE. Along with Durant, we also have Lebron James (Nike Zoom Lebron 6), Carmelo (Air Jordan Melo M5) and Chris Paul (Air Jordan CP3) that have or will be releasing signature shoes within the next 3 months. Which young superstar’s latest sneaker interest you the most?
