Shepard Fairey Michael Jordan Prints

Shepard Fairey Michael Jordan PrintsWhen we first showed you the Shepard Fairey Poster made for Michael Jordan’s HOF induction, the welcoming was more than warm and you begged for more information.

It turns out that the prints will release for sale, as well as poster versions, and that the aforementioned poster is not alone in the collection. Two more posters are included–one from Mike’s North Carolina days and another titled “Hall of Fame Portrait”–at a total price of $4,499 for 3 of the 150 MJ- and Fairey-signed 26″ x 36″ silk screen master prints (one of each design). While the price is steep for the gallery-worth prints, far cheaper posters are available soon as well, for the non-high-art set. Check Obey Giant for release and purchase details.

Michael Jordan Hall of Fame Induction Recap

Michael Jordan Hall of Fame

In the recent past, September 11th has undoubtedly been a day for mourning and remembrance of a tragic day in American history. However, this past September 11th was another one to remember in more of a positive way. Yesterday, Michael Jordan, the world’s greatest basketball player to ever step foot on the hardwood, was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.

For the most part, everyone that had something to do with MJ’s career was in attendance. Teammates such as Scottie Pippen, Toni Kukoc, Steve Kerr and Dennis Rodman were there as well as former competitors including Isaiah Thomas, Charles Barkley, Coach Pat Riley and John Stockton (who was also inducted into the Hall of Fame). Although Jordan shed a couple of tears, this moment will forever go down as one of the more happiest and memorble moments in basketball history. The man behind the iconic Obama campaign image and Obey paid homage to the G.O.A.T. this week, who if you didn’t know, is being inducted into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame on Friday.

Little is known about the poster, other than that it is 18″x24″ and utilizes Fairey’s famous layered stencil technique. With almost three full days left until Michael’s induction ceremony, it looks like the tributes are far from over. We’ve shown you Jordan Brand’s multiple efforts in the 60+ sneaker and Hall of Fame Pack, as well as Gatorade’s Ultimate G Moment contest and Nike’s Air Jordan “History of Flight” online mini-site, and many others. Fairey and Jordan may have no storied history of working together, but if anyone deserves a tribute poster, it’s Michael.
