realmadHECTIC x mita x New Balance MT580

Last month we brought you these collaborative New Balance MT580s from Japan’s mita and realmadHECTIC, and now they’re available for purchase through mita’s online store.

For 17,640 yen (about $180), these Japan-only Newbies can be yours. It may be a hefty price tag for a basic running silhouette, but these received quality reviews when we gave you the first peek. The materials are high quality and New Balance is a proven brand, so trust that if you choose to import these, you’ll be getting a good product. The dual-blue and cream colorway went over well with you, the Nice Kicks readers, and now the decision of whether you liked them enough to bring them stateside is the one you really have to make.

Worth the shipping, or are you skipping?

New Balance “Feral Creation Collection” Now Available

New Balance "Feral Creation Collection" Now Available

The New Balance x mita and Leftfoot “Feral Creation Collection” received mixed reviews when we last showed it to you. But those who found any or all of the four pairs worth the trouble of importing will be glad to hear that they’re all available now at mita.

As you should remember, this collection came about as a revival of the New Balance 999, as the shoemaker chose to work with the two Asian sneaker retailers to gain a new design aspect. Quantities will be limited, and your Japanese better be on point to get these. But if you’re a Newbie fan, or just feeling like an animal these days, use the above link and get on it.

New Balance 999 Feral Creation Collection

New Balance 999 Feral Creation CollectionAt its original release in 1996, the New Balance 999 was a technologically ground-breaking sneaker. On September 9th (9/9/09), the 999 Feral Creation Collection will release, thanks in part to Japan’s mita and Singapore-based retailer Leftfoot, as New Balance makes an effort to connect with its classic sneaker from the past and bring it forward into the future.

The pack includes four total pairs–2 inspired by and designed in conjunction with each store–with a 660-pair limited drop and a general release pair each. Leftfoot drew inspiration from the king of the jungle, the Lion, for its tier zero release. Featuring a mix of materials–suede, nylon, leather and reflective 3m–the Leftfoot 999 uses a grey sole inspired by the concrete jungle, contrasted by a dark grey upper with bright red and purple accents. Leftfoot’s general release 999 draws inspiration from the native-to-Singapore Peacock. The cues are obvious, as this design features a black and grey forefoot against a teal and blue heel.

mita drew inspiration from Japanese animals as well, using the grey mouse and black crow as starting points. The mita limited 999, taking from the tough and resilient mouse, features a handful of materials in multiple shades of grey. This design was intended to be tough and represent the modern generation of Asian youth. The second pair from mita was designed after the black crow, and is the simplest of the four pairs, with its most unique feature definitely being the faux horse hair accents.

mita x Asics Gel Lyte Speed "Tropical"Japanese retailer mita has done a countless number of collaborations, including the Mita x Asics Gel Lyte III Purple Haze/Blueberry Pack we showed you last year.

These Asics Gel-Lyte Speed’s draw inspiration from a nice day on the beach, sporting bright yellow, blue, red and pink accents, over a grey base, with a hint of suede near the toe. Mita x Lakai Telford Pack

Mita x Lakai Telford PackBack in 1999, Lakai Footwear began with a simple approach, create “The Shoes We Skate.” The Telford silhouette is one of the most popular models from Lakai, and they have recently teamed up with Mita Sneakers of Japan for two colorways of the Telford High.

The Mita x Lakai Telford Pack gets a wide variety of materials, ostrich skin around the toe box, perforated leather, patent leather, suede, even some nylon mesh on the tongue. The simple style of the shoe combined with the two simple colorways chosen, black/white/green and white/black/blue, make for a solid collaboration.

Seems to be a good direction to go for Lakai, who has a number of classic skate shoes in their line up that definitely deserve a second look by sneakerheads.

Both colorways are available now at Mita Sneakers for about $135.

Mita x New Balance MT580 Gore-Tex

Mita x New Balance MT580 Gore-TexIf our 9 Sneakers to look forward in 09 was a slightly larger list, the Mita x New Balance Gore-Tex would have surely been on it. When we first got a glimpse of these kicks in November, we instantly wanted to see more.

The three bright color choices couldn’t be better to represent those outdoor jackets that hit their high point of popularity back in the late 80’s and early 90’s. Yellow, teal and purple colorways made of Gore-tex material to keep your feet nice and dry, and a little sheltered on those windy days as well. A little bit of 3M accenting complete the package.

These will release in the US, but are available now at Mita.
