Size? is a well-established UK retailer with a history of working on collaborations, including on the Reebok Pump 20 series. New Balance called on the team this time though, and the two companies came together of two 577s.

The first pair utilizes an olive upper, with suede, mesh and leather all coming together. Complementing the white midsole is a special double-branded tag. Other accents include the orange N logo and plaid liner. The second pair has a black upper. In the toe box, cross-stitched nylon replaces mesh, while yellow accents are used throughout. Both sit on gum bottoms and should release later this year.

New Balance 577

These two spring colorways of the New Balance 577 mark the shoe’s 20th year of existence. As the tongue tag demonstrates, these kicks are constructed in England-Flimby to be precise. The shoes are wrapped in fine materials: mesh, suede, and leather. The suede and mesh serve as a subtle backdrop for the reptile-textured leather that wraps around the midsection of the shoe.

The color of this overlay and its corresponding segment within the midsole are the only variations between the two colorways. Jump through the macro shot of the tongue tag to have a look at full silhouette in each colorway.

Overkill x New Balance 577 "Berlin Wall" Pack

For a very simple pack of New Balance 577s, the “Berlin Wall” threesome has garnered a good amount of attention. Though the turn of the new year means it’s no longer technically the 20th anniversary of the Berlin Wall coming down, all three pairs become available this Saturday, January 9th at CaliRoots and other select retailers.

Designed, as mentioned above, as a tribute to a historical moment in the social, political and cultural sphere, all three of these 577s are limited to 577 pairs each. A grey nubuck mid-panel is used on each with choices between blue, red and black for the mudguard and N logo. These are only available in a limited run, so find your local dealer and get them this Saturday.

Overkill x New Balance 577 “Berlin Wall” Pack

Overkill x New Balance 577 "Berlin Wall" PackThough it will be 2010 when these finally hit shelves, and the 20th Anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall will technically have past, the Overkill x New Balance 577s still make for an inspired pack. We saw these awhile back, when the release date originally thought to be December 16th, and now we have not only updated date, but some detailed pics, as well.

As we see in this round of photos, the red pair of 577s uses a far brighter shade that we originally saw, when they looked near maroon. The tongue tag has also been changed dramatically, as it no longer bears the New Balance logo and London Jack, but now has a graphic of the Berlin Wall. All three pairs will be available on January 9th, with production limited to 577 pairs of each color, at Overkill, Undefeated, Colette, Hanon, Sneakersnstuff, 24 Kilates and Wood Wood.

New Balance 577

New Balance’s classic 577 isn’t going anywhere. At 20 years old, the silhouette may be rather old by sneaker standards, but it’s never gone out of style. For nest Spring and Summer, more 577s will drop, including these two we previewed a few months ago.

Both pairs feature white off-white nubuck and suede throughout. Tan mesh and suede are used on the uppers and toe areas. As of yet, maroon and olive green colorways will release, with snakeskin print on the mid-panels. Both also sit on white midsole, which match the heel and toe accent panels, and black outsoles.

Overkill x New Balance 577 "Berlin Wall Pack"

When the Berlin Wall came down, David Hasselhoff was on hand to celebrate the occasion. Be thankful that he won’t be on hand to welcome this Overkill x New Balance pack that celebrates the 20 year anniversary of the historic moment. Don’t let the simple makeup of these three pairs fool you, there is a lot of history behind them.

The red pair’s inspiration comes from the USSR flag and the “Red” Russian influence, while the Black represents the Berlin bear mascot and blue for the United States’ flag and influence. The insoles are all printed with different iconic images from the era in black and white. Oddly enough these bare the British flag on their tongues, as they were constructed at New Balance’s UK factory.

The pack will release on December 16th at Overkill Berlin, with only 577 of each pair available in all.

New Balance 577 Spring 2010 Preview

New Balance 577 Spring 2010 Preview

New Balance has some classic running silhouettes, the 577 is definitely one that falls into that category. The 577 originated in the late 80’s, and has since seen a resurgence since the turn of the century.

The New Balance 577 will return in at least two colorways for the Spring of 2010. Aside from the tried and true combination of suede and mesh, the mid panel of each of these upcoming colorways is wrapped in a snake skin-like finish. Comfort in the 577 silhouette can be attributed to ENCAP cushioning.
