In honor of the Air Pegasus’s 20th year anniversary, Nike has unloaded this sneaker in numerous colorways this year. As 2009 comes to a close, we will continue to spot more Air Pegasus ‘89 colorways such as this particular pair.

It features a predominance of white leather and nylon on the base; however, its graphite and black accents make it stand out to say the least. Celebrating 20 years of German youth culture, this Nike Air Pegasus 89, named the “Berlin,” has been revealed after the sneak peek we got recently. Done up in shades of grey and black with hints of purple, the Swoosh draws inspiration from one of the most important moments in world history.

The splattered white, grey and black Swoosh is a direct interpretation of the broken concrete of the Berlin Wall after German citizens took to bringing it down. We saw New Balance pay tribute to the same moment in history with a three-shoe pack, but these actually read “Berlin ‘89″ on the heel tab. It’s no coincidence that this old school sneaker was chosen for this tribute, given its initial release year.

This year, Nike retroed the Air Pegasus ‘89 seeing that it is the 20th year anniversary for this sneaker. Therefore, we have seen a plethora of Pegasus ‘89 colorways throughout the year. Nike Sportswear is now set to release a special edition Air Pegasus ‘89 dubbed the “Berlin”.

First off, this is just a sneak peek at the shoe; it has been stated that this is not the official version as well. The colorway is supposedly inspired by Berlin’s urban playground style. It seems to possess a predominately black, multi-textured base complimented with purple contrast stitching and a white midsole. The swoosh also owns a unique, electrifying attribute as well. The look into the future of the Nike running retros continues with this latest Air Pegasus ‘89, dropping sometime in January of 2010. Joining the Pegasus lineup is this white/crimson-vivid pink color-up, putting a bright outlook on the coming Spring and Summer months.

The majority of the upper is done up with white mesh, including the mid-panels and toes, and grey. Vivid pink is used for the liner as well as in mesh form near the collar and as an accent on the heel. The midsole is a mash-up between grey and white, and the toe of the outsole gets a nice pink touch, too.

As far as Nike’s classic running silhouettes go, the Air Pegasus doesn’t quite get the love that the Air Max 1 or Air Max 95 get, but this newest black and white colorway is out to show that simplicity will never go out of style.

As the 20 year celebration of the Pegasus’ introduction winds down, Nike has rolled out quite a few colorways including this one in a White/Black-Grey. This one comes in a near-reverse scheme, using black as the mainstay color instead. Suede, leather and mesh make up the upper, with a white swoosh and midsole for contrast. These are about as simple as it gets, but with Fall upon us and Winter approaching, it’s nice to have a pair to get dirty when the weather gets nasty. For those interested, there are available now at select retailers.

A mix of white leather and grey suede makes up a majority of the upper, and the same scheme is used on the midsole. Black’s used on the swoosh, outsole and liner for good measure. These should make for more subtle 2010 release than Electric Green Pegasus we showed you last week.
