The day has arrived. Bobbito Garcia’s collaborative sneaker with PRO-Keds, the Royal Flash, has released and Bobbito is currently on a shop appearance mini-tour throughout the New York area. We have seen Kool Bob Love talk about his shoes before, and even got a look at all four colorways, but now we have some detailed looks at them.

Garcia took the classic PRO-Keds model and added a number of nice gold leaf touches. “Bobbito” appears on the upper outer side and “Pa’lante” on the inner, of which he explains the significance in the above video. Other text includes the “Add-On” nickname on the heel, “El Barrio” above the tongue label and some additional labels on the underside of the tongue. The shoe is out in four natural colorways–mustard, olive, maroon and dark orange–and all are suede. It’s most definitely an old school hoops shoe done up by an old school hooper.

Bobbito Garcia is no stranger to the sneaker game, streetball or PRO-Keds, so it’s only fitting that he got his own chance to put together a special collaboration line of his own.

Four colorways have been designed, all with rich color choices for their suede uppers. All four also sit on all white soles and are accented with white leather stripes and heel panels. “El Barrio, NYC” appears across the top of the tongue in gold foil text, paying tribute to Bobbito’s Spanish Harlem roots. 30th year anniversary writing also appears on the underside of the tongue. “A.K.A. ADD-ON” also appears, a nod to the reference Bobbito makes to the Royal Flash in his sneaker Bible “Where’d You Get Those?”

On October 28th, the day of the sneaker release, Bobbito will be making five in-store appearances throughout the New York area and New Jersey.

PRO-Keds Shotmaker Mid

PRO-Keds continues to hit us with super-clean retros, as seen with these Shotmakers in three colorways. Old school b-boys and ballers may remember these mids from 1982, which feature the signature “Power Stripes” on their vulcanized soles.

The blue pair uses white accents on a nubuck upper, accented with white stripes on the mid-panel. Unlike the black and white pairs, which use a navy blue and red sole stripe combination, these keep to their colorway, using only white and blue stripes. The aforementioned black and white pairs are more traditional, using leather for their uppers. The black pair uses white stripes and contrast stitching, while the white pair’s upper stripes match those from it sole. Expect these to release very soon.

Richard Chai x PRO-Keds

Richard Chai x PRO-Keds

For New York Fashion Week, designer Richard Chai worked with PRO-Keds on this collection, working with a mixture of silhouettes and turning out some interesting designs.

Chai’s an American fashion designer, so of course he brought a high-end style to the classic sneaker label. The low-top keeps it simple, using mostly grey tones and a zipper for securing them, even though they do have lace holes. The high-top also uses grey tones and an off-white patterned print. It also works with a zipper, but features interior padding, as well as matching stripes along the side.

These may be a high little high-fashion for some sneakerheads, but be on the lookout in Spring of 2010 for the complete collection to hit stores.
